Scum Frog

I bought a scum frog from bass pro in the watermelon/red flake color, I have been using frogs like the Ribbit frogs and the Net Bait paca frogs, but I wanted to try out a pre-rigged frog like the scum frogs. I tried it out early in the morning in and around lilly pads where I was havin success with buzz baits, but the fish wouldnt take the lure, they came to the surface and just striked it, they never ate it. How should I present these?

I tend to bring them across the water in short jerks, with pauses in between.  Sometimes I'll give it eight to ten spurts than let it sit for a minute or two.   Lightly twitching them on the surface seems to entice a strike on the pauses.

Simple, tie on a Spro Bronzeye frog and a Rage Tail toad and they will inhale them!!!!

I've been using them for several years with pretty good luck.  I favor the natural black & green and generally use a slow steady retrieve in the thickest weeds I can find.  Quite often the bass will strike at it and end up sending the lure flying...then I simply twitch it slowly and most times they'll find it again.

X2 pick up some of the new spro poppers as well. Been nailing 3-5lber on them the last two days, blow ups the size of manhole covers!

Cut my frog fishing teeth on the Scumfrog Popper. Still works today.

Scumfrog Trophy is an excellent bait as are the Bigfoot. Only problem is they have real soft bodies. While that is a plus for hookups, if you are fishing reeds or pads the bait will tend to get hung up more often than others. If you are fishing it over the top of moss or other floating slop, they are great. Could be a little heavier though.

I had never fished any frog before yesterday. I got a green scumfrog at BPS. I had thrown all sorts of topwater baits at the bass in my pond but when I threw the scumfrog I dont think they had ever seen one before...6 fish in about 30 min!!! I was not happier!

I like the Scum Little Bigfoot frog better than the Spro Bronzeye.

It's not real hard to fish. Just make it look like a frog, or burn it, or twitch it, or any combination. The possibilities are endless.

Scum frogs catch plenty of fish. A slow retrieve making twitches over heavy slop, weeds or other cover is the way to go, and then slowly twitching it and letting it sit in a pocket. The strikes are ferocious.

just remember to pause when you first get a strike/blow up.  that is the key.  don't get too anxious.

I love the BigFoot scrum frog its my goto top water bait becuz of all the endless things you can do with it. If they are hitting the buzzbait then fish your frog like one and burn-it. One very very important thing with these frogs is what it says on the back of the package. Let them take it before you set the hook. 2-3 secs is usually enough and I mean  actual seconds not the seconds of a fishermen seeing a blow-up on his bait....you know what i mean
