Jim H. Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 How hard is it to catch bass in November? Not as hard as it is in August! I have caught bass in the midwest (MO,AR,IL) during all 12 months. In fact bass fishing in Nov. is a lot of fun. Not many other boaters on the lake, and the fishing can be awesome. Remember that by Nov. the spring spawn have grown and most of the forage fish are bigger so larger lures can be effective. In addition, by November the lakes in the midwest have turned over. The thermocline disappears and the oxygen is mixed from top to bottom and the fish may may move deep. A quality sonar can confirm this and jigging a spoon in 25' - 40' can be productive. HTH Quote
Siebert Outdoors Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 Jim is right. Nov is one of my favorite times to fish. Quote
Super User clayton86 Posted September 28, 2011 Super User Posted September 28, 2011 I sure hope so I won't be able to fish till then they better be biting Quote
Super User Jigfishn10 Posted September 28, 2011 Super User Posted September 28, 2011 I usually do pretty well in the late fall season. It's awesome as well, you get the whole body of water to yourself. The latest I caught was a week before Christmas here in MA. I got about 4 that day on a spinnerbait and the bite was pretty aggressive. Quote
Sfritr Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 Lets put it this way. Many ice fishing anglers frequently catch both LM and SM bass on the hard water. Fish can be targeted during any month and any condition. You just have to have the right equipment, the right spot and the right presentation. Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted September 28, 2011 Super User Posted September 28, 2011 The Weather can be brutal and you really have to pick your spots but if you like the Brown ones (and you have a few swimbaits)then I'd say you stand a pretty good shot at taking some of the nicest fish of the season. My best 5 smb came at noon on a sunny mid-November day. Water and air temps were in the low 40's. Here's a few to wet your appetite. Good Luck A-Jay Quote
Fat-G Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 A-Jay, "rustic" as usual. Beautiful, fat fish! Quote
North Ga Hillbilly Posted September 29, 2011 Posted September 29, 2011 A-Jay, that first SM is a serious football. NGaHB Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted September 29, 2011 Global Moderator Posted September 29, 2011 Like others have said, fishing can be great in November. The fish are filling up for winter and usually still pretty actively chasing baits for at least part of the month. If you have any powerplant lakes close by things will be starting to heat up there too. Quote

Picture #1 has all the makings of a lake erie piggie with just a little more length. Let's hope this November is as good 1 Quote
Steve K Posted September 29, 2011 Posted September 29, 2011 I have not done well on numbers of fish but more size in late november. Here in Southern Wisconsin the lake freeze around early-mid Dec. Went out last year up to the second week in december and still caught a 20in smallie. Live bait (suckers, perch) seem to work better for me the later it gets. But like everyone said, you'll have the lake to yourself! Quote
Super User Shane J Posted September 29, 2011 Super User Posted September 29, 2011 My PB largemouth was caught Nov 16th, 2009, on a topwater bait. I love that late fall fishing. Quote

Let's hope this November is as good Yup - I'm going to throw them a bit more this fall. If I got on a few that were even close to those Sows you get on, I'd be a very happy Camper. A-Jay Quote
