Lake Fork Swimbait

I used the Lake Fork swimbait today and was impressed. I t-rigged it with a 2/0 hook and a 1/4oz weight. The paddle tail has really great action. When it falls the tail goes wild, and that's where I was getting most of my strikes. Although I liked them, they were not that durable unfortunately. I was getting 2 maybe 3 fish per bait. All in all, if you haven't tried them, pick up a bag and give them a shot!

If your talking about the LFT Live Magic Shad you are right. That thing is amazing. I love those things. Not the most durable bait in the world, but I can normally catch 5 or so on one before I have to change. Upgrade your hook to a Moaner 5/0 or 6/0 screw lock hook and it will make a world of difference in both hook ups and saving your baits.

Have you keel weighted them or is that what your talking about? And yes the Lake Fork Magic Shad is what I'm talking about. I think I like them as much as a Swim Senko. That's a bold statement.

Yea the screw lock hooks are weighted. The deeper I want to fish them, the heavier weight I use.

What he said, I use to use a grub on the Hornet jig but have done better since reading RW's suggestion a couple years back about sticking the Magic Shad on the back. Great combo, I usually use the 1/2 oz jighead.

Don´t complain about the durability, after purchasing and fishing the Javallon ( japanese version of the Live Magic Shad ) you see things with a different perspective, Javallons break if you sneeze hard on them, let alone how many fish you get per bait.

The LMS works great also rigged with a scrounger head.

Do you fish these with an exposed hook with the bait covering the weighted part of the hook?

The weighted part of the hook is on the belly of the hook. It isnt inside the plastic, but underneath it. The hook is exposed, but it rest on top of the bait and is pretty weedless.

I truly love the action on the Live Magic Shad, but have stopped using them after casting the tails off two packages (3 baits per) of the 5.5" size. Used a lightly weighted swimbait hook (5/0) and I'd get maybe a dozen casts before the bait went in one direction and the tail another!

Never got a fish off the 6 baits either. And I tried "soft" casting them, as best I could, but had to put more pressure on the cast in order to get the distance I wanted. Maybe it's just me?

Thats weird...I have never done that and I have thrown them 1000's of times. Did you leave em in the sun and they got hot and soft?
