Diablos Posted September 24, 2011 Posted September 24, 2011 I just finished my 2nd rod build. The next 7-8 rods I make will all be for my boat with matching colors. I have plans to make 5 baitcasters and 2 spinning all using MHX blanks. My next build will be a 6'6" MHX with Fuji micro "lowrider" stripper guides and will have a full eva/composite rear grip as opposed to split. I am going to try different grip and guide setups on all my rods. The cranking rod I am going to build is going to be on a MHX white blend blank and will be using American Tackle full titanium guides. Quote
endless Posted September 24, 2011 Posted September 24, 2011 Man I'm liking what I see in the second pic!! The red and the silver metal just looks good together like that! Nice work Diablos. Quote
Super User Jigfishn10 Posted September 24, 2011 Super User Posted September 24, 2011 Nice work Diablos, looks great! Rod building is addictive, isn't it? Quote
PondBoss Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 Excellent job! I really need to get I disagree in gear and start learning how to do that. Great work Quote
Bubba_Bruiser Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 Super clean work. Looks good and I like those MHX843s. Quote

Super User MickD Posted December 4, 2011 Super User Posted December 4, 2011 Very nice work. Took me a lot more rods than two to get even close to that level of craftmanship. Quote
Diablos Posted December 4, 2011 Author Posted December 4, 2011 Very nice work. Took me a lot more rods than two to get even close to that level of craftmanship. I have built saltwater rods for almost 20 years but this was 2nd bass rod build ever. I've had people ask me for bass rods but since I didn't start bass fishing till 2007 I didn't want to build them for people without the knowledge of how they work. So I fished factory rods for a couple of years to understand what makes certain rods so specific. I would like to build for people but I can not compete with warranties offered by factories. The thought of rebuilding a North Fork Composite after someone lifts a 3lb bass out of water doesn't sit well with me. Quote
Super User Hi Salenity Posted December 4, 2011 Super User Posted December 4, 2011 Was that the Hi-Mod blank? Did you have to "finish" the blank itself in any way? Gorgeous Rod BTW! Quote
