JacobK Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 So i recently purchased a Cavitron buzzbait and here is my review. Before purchasing multiple Cavitrons i decided that i would just buy ONE, just because there is a slight possibility i wouldn't like their action. So i purchased a single Cavitron, black with a red blade. Upon inspection after opening the package, the lure is pretty decent quality, i'm not 100% sure on the brand of the hook but its extremely sharp. Well this morning i headed to a local inland lake "stoney creek" and proceeded to cast the cavitron past a patch of isolated lily pads, first thing i notice is that it's MUCH easier to get this buzzbait to the surface faster than others. second, this thing squeeks and gurgles unlike the booyahs that clack. third, it moves slowwwwwwww just as it was advertised. anywho, last thing i noticed after a handful of casts, was a big wake following it and then seeing the entire lure get sucked down into the dark abyss. i thought it was the bass of a lifetime but it turned out to be a 19-20" northern pike. ;D he absolutely SLAMMED the bait, i had a trailer hook on but it was such a good strike that he got caught by the regular hook. After catching and releasing him i inspected the bait, no paint chips, no missing pieces of skirt, not even a mark! honestly i'm bloody impressed! a wire bait like that in the mouth of such a toothy critter only to come out unscathed, i've had booyah spinners and buzzbaits lose skirts without even catching fish. :-? anywho three thumbs up for a wonderful product! Super User iceintheveins Posted July 21, 2009 Super User Posted July 21, 2009 Cavitrons are the best buzzbaits around and I catch pike by the ton on them when I'm pike fishing. They stand up to the abuse that a 40 incher can dish out. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted July 21, 2009 Super User Posted July 21, 2009 Thanks for the review, I'm a big fan, too! 8-) Quote
Super User Sam Posted July 21, 2009 Super User Posted July 21, 2009 Excellent bait. Only one I throw in tournaments. Now take the Bait Monkey with you and head back to the tackle store and get some varieties!!! ;D ;D ;D Quote
Koop Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 I agree cavitrins are by far my favorite as well. Quote
Super User Crestliner2008 Posted July 21, 2009 Super User Posted July 21, 2009 A great buzzbait! I purchased several at a Sportsmen's Show a few years back and have never regretted it. Quote
BIG B. Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 I've always looked for a good buzzbait that I like, and can't really seem to find one (I'm kinda picky). Where can you buy a Cavitron, or can you order direct? Quote

Koop Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 Support BR get them from an advertiser if there is enough other stuff you need there as well. http://www.megastrike.com/ Quote
JacobK Posted July 21, 2009 Author Posted July 21, 2009 so do you guys add anything to your cavitrons? i added a trailer hook, but i swear i've heard of people putting small flukes on as a trailer? Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted July 21, 2009 Super User Posted July 21, 2009 I don't add anything, but I know a lot of guys do. Go with what ever you are comfortable with and experiment! 8-) Quote
mrbassky68 Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 The holes in the blade are less important than the bend in the shaft in my opinion. That is the key to a great buzzbait and probably the best innovation ever in buzzbaits. Cavitron didnt come up with it I am pretty sure but so what. Quote
Crowcommander Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 Dicks Sporting Goods opened in Hot Springs, Ar. They have Cavitron Buzzers and Megastrike!! Whopeeee! Quote
Koop Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 Dicks Sporting Goods opened in Hot Springs, Ar. They have Cavitron Buzzers and Megastrike!! Whopeeee! Really? There are 2 dicks in Madison WI, the megastrike attractant is the only product carried from megastrike and only by one of the stores. Quote
adclem Posted July 22, 2009 Posted July 22, 2009 I discovered that the fish strike these things so violently that a trailer hook just gets in the way. As you stated they attack it and swallow it. Haven't ever tried a trailer of any type, but I highly doubt one is needed. Later, Quote
Teal101 Posted July 22, 2009 Posted July 22, 2009 Just picked up a black with red blade from TW. Can't wait to try it out! Quote
