Super User A-Jay Posted September 23, 2011 Super User Posted September 23, 2011 It's been a typical Fall pattern for both the weather and the fish this week. On and off cold rain and wind with intermittent (all too brief) periods of warm sunshine. Late morning through mid afternoon has been best. Fish have been surprisingly shallow and they have been very cooperative as well. It's been a spinnerbait / crankbait bite all week. Alternating between the 2, I planned on tossing a jig when the bites slows, but it really hasn't. So there's definitely a cold bite in the air above the surface and hot bite on the bass below it . . . . A-Jay Quote
Super User Dwight Hottle Posted September 23, 2011 Super User Posted September 23, 2011 Way to go get em A-Jay. I figured you would be on them sooner or later. Quote

Super User A-Jay Posted September 26, 2011 Author Super User Posted September 26, 2011 what lake have you been fishin a-jay? I've been hitting a couple of different places this week depending on the wind direction. Todays fish came from ~ 44-57'30.01"N 84-41'30.39"W Better known as Way Point #465 A-Jay Quote

Todays fish came from ~ 44-57'30.01"N 84-41'30.39"W Better known as Way Point #465 A-Jay I haven't much luck on that number A-Jay. Maybe because everytime I've gone there, that darn kid of mine starts howling about jigs/leeches, jig/minnows, and anything else he can think of to keep me from targeting anything but those pesky walleyes! I'm happy to see someone gets to take advantage of those fish, as the only thing I've really enjoyed there is a nice shady campsite. Now if you'd change the 44 into a 45, and maybe the 84 into an 83, I can sometimes talk him into going after brown fish. Have you heard anything about the tournament held up there this last weekend? A two day ten fish limit supposedly came in just under 45lbs to win it! Quote

NO real toads but eaters for sure. The trollers are out in force as usual until the shooting gallery starts (deer season) in October. Those guys are constantly jockeying for position in the "trolling parade". This is nice as it leaves the small structure spots to me. I have not heard about that tourney as I haven't really followed it; but those numbers do not surprise me. 4 lb fish seem to be a little more routine right now. I'm not complaining mind you but if I could just get on a school of those "Dwight sized" brownies I'd be styling. It's gonna blow hard today so I'm on the honey-do list this morning. A-Jay Quote
Super User Dwight Hottle Posted September 26, 2011 Super User Posted September 26, 2011 Keep it up buddy. I'm loving those smallies your catching. I also want to thank you for giving us the opportunity to see those fish in the cradle instead of your lap. 1 Quote

A-Jay I hope you're taking a few of those Walters home for the frying pan. Scary thought, but maybe your best chance to take a picture of one of those "Dwight-Sized" smalljaws would be if your wife caught it. Get that lady in the boat! Quote
