stkbassn Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 Hey guys, I need some advice. I have quite a few new and very nice rods that I've used some and they're starting to get some discoloring on the cork from use...dirt, etc. What is the easiest, safest way to clean the cork without damaging it or wearing it down? I've heard you can use alcohol? Any suggestions would be great! Thanks in advance to all of you. Quote

JigMe Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 that cork sealer is not easy to find at the local store, I had to pay 5 bucks shipping on amazon and the sealer sells for 7 bucks. Quote

Lucas412 Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 Simple Green. Works so well I couldn't believe it. My nasty brown handles looked brand new with very minor scrubbing. Quote
Super User webertime Posted September 21, 2011 Super User Posted September 21, 2011 I've used these, they have a gritty side and it's an incredibly fast job to clean 5-10 rods. http://www.lysol.com/cleaning-products/disinfecting-wipes/dual-action-disinfecting-wipes Quote

Coat with U-40 Cork Sealer. Grips will look better than new. This is the best way I've found. Some people don't like the way cork feels with U40. Personally, I can see the difference but it's pretty slight. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted September 22, 2011 Super User Posted September 22, 2011 LOL, I learned it from you. Quote
