baronvonderek Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 My uncle, who rarely goes fishing anymore, was given a fishing rod by a random gentlemen on the side of the road and he accepted it because he knows I go out a few times a week. I am trying to find out the specs of this pole like its strength and so forth, so that I can set it up with a suitable reel. Its a Heddon fishing rod, and the pole says its a 5 1/2' pole with a number of 9051. I can not find information on this pole anywhere online and I have come here in hopes someone can point me in the right direction. If need be I can post a picture of the rod as well. Appreciate any input. Quote

Super User SirSnookalot Posted September 21, 2011 Super User Posted September 21, 2011 Spinning rod? I would use what I already owned, you may not like the rod. Rod is probably along the lines a ul or light action 4-8 line and 1/8-1/2 lure, but no where is written that one must stay within those parameters. Quote
Packard Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 Why would you want to use it? It has to be pretty old with old guides and is probably heavy. Even if it is in good condition it would be worth more as an antique than for personal use, Heddon didn't make the best of rods. Quote
