lynyrdsky1 Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 What is your favorite jig colors for this time of year on Pick? Also what are your favorite areas to fish during this time of year through Oct? Right now I'm fishing black/blue, black/red, and watermelon colors. I'm moving up shallow from the ledges and the points but still finding some fish deep chasing after shad that just havn't quite moved up yet. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted September 21, 2011 Super User Posted September 21, 2011 Things really pick up around mid October. I'm fishing my first money tournament for St. Jude Children's Hospital October 8th. We launch out of McFarland Harbor, below the Wilson Dam. The upper portion of Pickwick generally produces better numbers, but we seem to catch bigger smallmouth below Pickwick Dam. Try to plan your trip, or at least part of it, during the week. Water release is crucial and the TVA is undependable on weekends. If you intend to fish below Pickwick Dam there is a nice public park for camping and ramp that TVA maintains. As far as jig color goes...try what you like, but bring some black with blue trailers, too! I'm going to be swimming your white & silver skirt with Rage Tail Grubs this fall. I also suggest the back half of a Swimming Senko as a trailer. Quote
sidsmith03 Posted October 13, 2011 Posted October 13, 2011 Im new to fishing big waters, but I have fallen in love with pickwick this summer. My fishing partner and I are still trying to learn how to catch fish on pickwick. I've heard that the fall fishing is about to really heat up and that the fish are moving into some of the shallow coves. We usually unload the boat at JP Coleman...any suggestions or tips for us on fall fishing at pickwick around that area? Quote
