Super User Goose52 Posted October 7, 2011 Author Super User Posted October 7, 2011 No common carp in my 11 neighborhood lakes - only sterile grass carp (white amur) stocked for aquatic weed control. There are lots of common carp in other places in Tennessee...just not in my lakes. Quote
zenyoungkoh Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 You guys have no carp down there that spawn? The carp at my lake spawn for a few days at varying times depending on the part of the lake. For a few weeks, it's easy to find a shoreline that looks like a warzone of fish. What do you mean? When the carp spawn do they all gather at the shoreline? do they guard their nest or is it just a big party? Quote

Basically just a big party haha. The females swim up really shallow, and the males rub up against their bellies to knock the eggs loose. So it just looks like a bunch of fish thrashing around in the shallows. No nests. Quote
