Super User islandbass Posted November 28, 2020 Super User Posted November 28, 2020 For me it’s straight up size 2 whenever possible. I will go to 1 or 4, the next two closest sizes when 2s are not available. Quote
Westcoast Posted November 28, 2020 Posted November 28, 2020 I started using the Gamakatsu B-10s hooks this year. I have found them to have an excellent bite to hookup and hookup to land ration. It’s sticky sharp, nice wide gap and thin wire so it goes in and stays there. Quote
Super User WRB Posted November 28, 2020 Super User Posted November 28, 2020 Better to start a new thread then bumping a 2011 post. Weedless Texas hook use Owner #5133 size 1/0 down shot hook with 6” Roboworm. Nose hook take your pick of size 1 Grammy or Owner drop shot hooks. Tom Quote

The reason is because of the point. If you look closely at most "octopus" type hooks, you'll see a curved point. The Gama hook has a straight point. Here's the Octopus style: Now here's the Gamakatsu style: With the octopus, when you set the hook, it goes in and immediately comes back out. What this does, in effect is to skin hook the top lip. This allows for more frequent "quick releases" before boating the bass! With the Gama, the hook goes in deep and stays there. This is just my opinion, which is also shared by RichZ, a renowned drop shot specialist (and fishing columnist), here on the east coast. Hope this is of some help. Expand *I have come to the same conclusion and have now settled on the Gamakatsu Drop Shot/Split Shot hook, size #2 as being the gold standard for dropshotting the small Robo Worms I use the majority of the time .
