Let your imagination be your guide.

Fish jigs around submerged trees, rocks, drop ffs, ledges, grass beds, sunken tires, grocery carts or anything.

Try letting the jig sit on the bottom and just give it a shake without dragging it. Move it a few inches and repeat. Try bouncing it off the bottom like a yoyo.

Practice, practice, practice.

I caught a 4lb and a 2lb the other day, I was throwing a NorthStar Jig with a Rage craw trailer. Casting as close to the bank as I could get it, let it sit a few seconds and pull it back like you would a worm. The hits were not hits bass was just picking it up and swimming away, the only way you could tell you were bit was watching your line swim away. Try working your jig in a more vertical presentation, bouncing it off the bottom, Try dragging it along the bottom a couple of inches at a time, Try bouncing it off the bottom a couple of Feet at a time. There is no right or wrong way to work a jig as long as it is wet in the water. Keep fishing it like you would a rubber worm, and try to keep an image in your head of what the jig is doing. The main thing is to keep on fishing them, It seemed for me it was all a confidence thing. Once that 4lb bass swims off with it, your hooked for life.

My first few outing with Jigs were unsuccessful as well, but eventually I got the hand of it and kinda know what I need to do. Now every time I see a structure looks promising, I will just drop a Jig and it pays off. Try different ways of retrieve, and the Bass will tell you what they like. I have started to swim the Jig, but haven't yet to caught a fish on it.

Green Pumpkin and/or Black and Blue are standards on most waters around the country. Tipping the trailer with JJ's chartreuse won't hurt a thing and helps the bite in some conditions. Personally, I like GP jig with Falcon Lake Craw Color trailer for most all daytime fishing regardless of where I'm fishing although I haven't used it in Northern waters as of yet.

There's really no wrong way to fish a jig but let the fish tell you how they want it. Start off fishing it like a slow T-rig style with slow light drags and/or lifts in the rod tip. Light intermittent hops may also be what they're looking for. Maintaining a close contact or proximity to the bottom is important and feel your way along. When you get time, learn to flip or pitch with accuracy and soft water entries. This adds a new dimension to your jig fishing opportunities and fall rate becomes a big factor along with the overall profile size and jig action. Stay with it and don't lose patience, when a fish see's it they'll most often eat it, then both you and the fish are HOOKED!

I like PB&J, peas and carrorts, or purple & Black. One advice is that, try to use a search bait like lipless crank or LC pointer 100 to locate the fish. Then slow WAYyyyy down, and Jig it to work the whole area. "you need to find them, before catching them."
