Super User SirSnookalot Posted September 17, 2011 Super User Posted September 17, 2011 I was on my way to Hobe Sound yesterday morning, decided to stop by the ICW on my at about 3:30 am. There was quite a bit of bait and snook were busting, FYI that makes fishing harder when using artis. I casted for about 45 minutes without a tap, I then get snagged and lost my entire setup. Walked back to car and instead re rigging I took out a lighter rod, 7'6 med spinning and put an xrap on. By now the bait was starring to thin out and less fish were busting, conditions I prefer, after no more than 6 casts I hook an over slot, couldn't lift this fish'es head out of the water so I managed to guide it an area next to the sea wall where I could beach her. My guestimate would be 14-18#, a nice ICW snook. Now the bite was slowing down and and the no seeums were picking up so I trekked up to Hobe Sound, gotta admit I was disappointed. A couple of snook taps, but that was it until the sun came up, an now I'm getting hit on every cast but I can't hook one, finally I bring one in and it was a tiny ladyfish, small ladyfish are very hard to hook so I wasn't surprised. The lady fish cleared the area and bluefish came in, very small but give a great fight on light tackle. Going offshore 7:00 am this morning, as I have the outgoing I will most likely hit the ICW before meeting my partner. Quote
