Glad I Like To Fish Alone

My brother in law, whom I do the bulk of my fishing with, or I should say the bulk of my fishing with another person with. (we go out every Friday evening and fish for about six hours) Informed me today he isn't going to be able to go with me anymore for a while. My sister inlaw is livid with him for going off with me until twelve to two am on Fridays. It's gotten so bad anytime he goes with me they have a huge knockdown drag out fight, be it Friday night or whenever. Heck she stormed out of the house and left earlier tonight when he brought it up that he wanted to go with me. I kind of feel bad for inviting him to go with me sometimes.

However. I prefer to; and seem to do my best fishing when it is just me. I love being out on the water or at the pond alone. It is complete and utter relaxation for me. I guess I view it as win win for me. He either lays down the law, or I get to go alone.

I'm so happy my wife let's me fish, without complaining or fighting with me about it. I guess I definitely married the better of the two sisters.

I fish with both of my brother-in-laws. One of them is single so he doesn't have any problems. The other one is with my wife's little sister and they have a 6 month old so he catches some crap once in awhile. For the most part as long as we don't stay out so late that we are too tired to do anything when we get home we don't take much grief over it. I don't think I could be with someone who had problems with me going fishing when there wasn't a good reason for me to stay home. You have to have that stress relief after a long work week!

You should do better alone. It's not that you're a better fisherman alone, but you don't have to give a thought to another in the boat. No worries about making sure they have access to the better spots too. If you fish a pond with a lot of hangs, Then you will have to go to a bait that's snagged on something twice as often. When they catch a good fish, you may have to stop fishing to control the boat or net the fish.

You simply make more casts per hour fishing alone than with someone else, and you can set yourself up for the best casting lines at your target.

In spite of that, it's tough to beat fishing with a compatible partner. When the fishing is slow, with two, you can try twice as many different things, so on fussy days, you're more likely to find what they want. And, busting each others' chops is good for a laugh or two.

The only downside to fishing alone is when u catch a big one the pics are crappy because ur either standing over a floping fish or your arms extended and u gotta hold the camera out behind u to get the whole thing in the picture. I got some monster pike this year I never got pics of because I was alone and what pics I did take were crap because they floped all over and they were blurry or u got there green back in greem grass.

I fish out of a kayak, but never fish alone. I always have my two dogs with me, one is 85lbs other is 75lbs. Wouldn't enjoy it w/o them. So I guess it's who you are fishing with.

lol, I can't even get my avatar up : ), anyway it's an Old Town K 140, used for hunting primarily I guess. You sit in the center with a lot of space front and rear. Both are well behaved ( I work with problem dogs from area shelters/pounds)Being so hunkered down, it's very stable. I can stand up in it w/o a problem. I live on a lake, so they get plenty of practice.

I know what you mean so I went out and bought one of those bendable tripods and mount it on my front trolling motor and use the 10 sec timer now. But I use to hate taking photos with my phone.

Before that tripod I had a 7" tripod and set up in the backseat and almost everytime I hop up on front deck I would knock it over. We just bought a new camera cause my wife can't find hers and mine broke. So with the new tripod to hopefully take care of the new camera. It works just have to tie the back end of tripod to keep from sliding forward and bend the two front ends around motor. I worked great so far.

Back to OP sucks about your brother n law. It shouldn't be nothing worth fight over and maybe he can go at times she just must be sick of him leaving every Friday night if that is the case. I know my let's me but she hates when I leave at home with our son during the night. I'm glad my wife let's me go too, we have our little moments over it as well and most of time I was alone or going with my brother every Sunday. Now our son is in school me and the wife goes. I don't have a preference if going alone or fishing with a partner. When I fish AP Hill I'm always alone. Only one with the fishing permit.

I prefer fishing alone, the real only downside is many of the fish I catch are just too big to pull over a seawall, those are the times when I could use some help, beaches are no problem.

Yeah the picture taking can be hard. That's the biggest downside for me. That girl has gone and stirred the biggest hornets nest in regards to this now. Apparently she made some kind of comment to my wife and other sister in law about it this morning, and they have teamed up on her now. My other brother in law fishes mostly salt water, and fishes as much as I do. If he didn't live five hours from me, we would go together. Still this has obviously become a sister battle now. I'm kind of curious to see how it pans out.

The mother in law has now gotten involved. When Big Mama steps in things are usually pretty bad. This has gotten way out of hand, amongst those three. Glad I'm heading out to go fishing now.

Sounds like my wifes family she's the youngest of 3 girls everythings a little compatition and they all gossip and snow ball little problems into big ones but my mother inlawy is usually the source where the gossip starts. Sad thing is my wife is 14 years younger then her one sister and 18 years younger then the other and they still all act like there the same age in highschool its so annoying.
