Siebert Outdoors Posted September 16, 2011 Posted September 16, 2011 Look at a pelican case. IMO that would be one of the best things. I use one. Quote
Super User clayton86 Posted September 16, 2011 Super User Posted September 16, 2011 I use a ziplock bag both when fishing and out at drill when its raining works great because u can still use the phone without taking it out of the bag or a box Quote
Super User J Francho Posted September 16, 2011 Super User Posted September 16, 2011 Get a drybag: http://www.surftosummit.com/dry-bag-small-black-p-1725.html?cPath=199_202&osCsid=hhu6g0125ahobjkk72b7ubbtg4 Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted September 17, 2011 Super User Posted September 17, 2011 Tupperware container. Cheap and 100% waterproof! :D Quote
Randall Posted September 17, 2011 Posted September 17, 2011 Walmart sells waterproof containers in the camping section that lock down air and watertight. Most of them are under $10 where I have seen almost exactly the same containers online for $15-$30. Quote
Talmadge Posted September 17, 2011 Posted September 17, 2011 i just got myself one of those plano water proofs havent tested it out yet hahha Quote
Super User Fishes in trees Posted September 17, 2011 Super User Posted September 17, 2011 I just googled "waterproof containers". You've got many options. All the options listed previously plus waterproof document cases, waterproof cigarette cases, nearly any size you can imagine. They weren't all that expensive, either. I've got a smallish pelican case that holds my cell phone and truck keys. It will work for now. Should I decide to upgrade, I want one that floats. Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted September 17, 2011 Super User Posted September 17, 2011 Ziplock bag, and stays in my pocket. I don't put anything of value into my tackle bag when I'm going offshore. It only takes 1 stroke of bad luck to ruin your day, like maybe the bag bouncing overboard in 5' waves. Water, especially saltwater will wreck your key remote, I've done it a few times and they are expensive to replace. Quote
Super User Goose52 Posted September 17, 2011 Super User Posted September 17, 2011 I put my wallet and cell phone in one of these: Boat bailer I haven't tested it but it might float with the gear inside... Quote
BassThumb Posted September 18, 2011 Posted September 18, 2011 There are plenty of Tupperware-type containers with latches that will work perfectly. They come in all shapes and sizes and will run about $4-7. Quote
Super User Sam Posted September 18, 2011 Super User Posted September 18, 2011 Tupperware container. Cheap and 100% waterproof! :D X2 Quote
Gangley Posted September 19, 2011 Posted September 19, 2011 I use a Pelican 1060 in bright yellow so that its easy to find if it goes overboard. Its large enough to carry my wallet, 2 cellphones, IPOD, keys, etc but still tuck up in the under-seat compartment in the boat. Pelican Case Quote
piscicidal Posted September 19, 2011 Posted September 19, 2011 My wife gave me her Lock-N-Lock containers after they had become stained by red pasta sauce. They work great! I use them to hold my keys/wallet/cell phone when fishing. Completely waterproof and float if accidentally go overboard. Quote
billh Posted September 19, 2011 Posted September 19, 2011 I have 4 pelican cases in different sizes. They are waterproof and provide some shock resistance but I never use them for anything but multiday canoe trips for camera gear. I find them a nuisance for a day out fishing. My wallet is always with me in my pocket in a zip-lock. If I become seperated from my boat for any reason and have to walk out I'd like my wallet with me. A little cash, debit card, Health card, if I'm hurt, can all help me get back to the car or treated in an emergency room. Bill Quote
