BRONZEBACK67 Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 Mr. Scott asked me to be diligent on this and to keep it public until a polygraph is given. He feels more needs to be done. Quote
Super User Gatorbassman Posted September 15, 2011 Super User Posted September 15, 2011 I was wondering the other day what Ray thought about it. It's good to hear he still cares. Quote
Sfritr Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 I also was wondering if he had any pull at BASS and if he did, what his take on this matter would be. He built it from ground zero on merit and sportsmalike competition. Its funny, I often wonder what some of the founding tournament anglers opinions are of todays tournament trail ? Guys like hibdon, Dance, Nixon, who are still associated to some degree as well as some of the original guys. Is it like hearing from the old time ball players reveling about the good ol days and how it was actually better back then? I would be curious to hear some interviews from them "off the record" Quote
GrundleLove Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 It's a shame that this fellow has to be used as an example for cheating. I mean, it sucks, but I'm sure pro's cheat all the time. It seems like a sport where its so easy to get away with it. What he did was completely wrong no doubt about it, but there is no way in hell others dont do it as well. I do like the fact that they seem pretty pro active to abolish it. Also, have any other pros in his circuit made any comments about it? This seems like it could be just like the patriots when they recorded the other teams. "Every team does it, but they were the ones to get caught" It's funny because during the scandel no other teams came out and said "OMG the patriots did what?!? WHAT AN OUTRAGE!!" because they were doing it also...lol woah got off track there. That being said I hope everything works out for you and they are more proactive against those little cheaty cheaters. Quote
Super User K_Mac Posted September 15, 2011 Super User Posted September 15, 2011 I am on record as saying I believe speaking out was the right thing to do. Bass made a decision based on the evidence at hand to issue the penalty they thought appropriate. Whether I, you, or Ray Scott agree with that decision doesn't change a thing. What does your continued public pursuit of this matter accomplish? Those that believe you did the right thing will continue to believe. Those that don't are not going to change their minds based on your testimony. What good will a polygraph do? It will not stand up to a legal challenge, and any publicity that comes from this will not help the sport. What would Ray Scott have said when he was the man in charge if his authority and judgment were questioned? That he hasn't done so publicly as far as I know, seems to support that he doesn't want BASS drug through the mud publicly. That makes sense to me. 2 Quote
Super User Grey Wolf Posted September 15, 2011 Super User Posted September 15, 2011 This is turning into a soap opera. Quote
Super User K_Mac Posted September 15, 2011 Super User Posted September 15, 2011 Grundle you seem to be saying that cheating seems to be easy to do so it follows that many are doing it. That is not sound logic in my view. There will always be a few that will push (or exceed) the limits in any endeavor, but it seems to be very rare in pro fishing. I think that speaks to the integrity of the men and women involved, and the structure of the sport. Once again your cynicism for a young man is surprising. Quote

Bass XL Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 I know John Crews uploaded a picture on facebook that made me laugh pretty hard. He took a picture of a wad of cash in his hand with the caption reading "The hottest lure in bass fishing right now". Quote
Shad_Master Posted September 16, 2011 Posted September 16, 2011 Actually there is a post on that other website that always seems to get deleted on here that Ray made his call for a polygraph on 9/8/11. His reasoning is that this would provide credibility to Wllman's position that he intended this as a joke or establish once and for all that he intended to cheat. Quote
