Big Cat Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 I have been using a lot of "Senkos" lately and I am looking for some input. To be honest I became tired of going through a bag of Gary Yamamoto Senkos every fishing trip. They are very supple but IMO, they fall apart way too soon. Lately, I've switched to Yum Dinger and it seems to me, these are much more durable and just as effective, if not more effective. Does anyone agree? I still use other Gary products, Hula Grubs, etc. but on my next trip to Cabelas, its gonna be Yum. Btw, I am T-Rigging my 5" Dingers on a 4/0 EWG, weigthless using a 7' MH casting rig. Anyone using a different rod set up with a 5" weightless Dinger? Thanks for any input!
Super User Crestliner2008 Posted September 14, 2011 Super User Posted September 14, 2011 Well, opinions vary quite a bit on any type of bait you pick up. I personally like the Senko as is. I don't use a bait caster with it though. My rod is a medium spinning rig with 10 lb. braid and an 8 lb. fluoro leader. I use a 3/0 size EWG hook, or rig them wacky. But use whatever gives you the most confidence. That's the key.
Super User grimlin Posted September 14, 2011 Super User Posted September 14, 2011 I agree...I'll use Yum dingers before I'll grab a senko. When I go weightless I'm using a MH spinning rig.I don't like casting weightless plastic on baitcasters.I actually have a hard time for some reason.I use 3/0-4/0 wide gap owner hooks. However I also use my M/XF Powell spinning rod also with no problems.
