I use Yum, Megastrike, and Smelly Jelly.

The sprays don't last as long and also you will waste a lot because are you are spraying not rubbing.

Edge Hot Sauce for soft plastic worms and creatures, Pro-Cure Bait Butter for soft swimbaits. Nothing on hard baits. Anise oil and fresh garlic on pork jig trailers.

I use Fish Formula II or Baitmate (clear) with a ½ oz of pure anise oil added; this is to mast any odor my plastic may have pick up.

Secondly it acts as a lubricant because I fish in grass a lot and it helps my plastic baits slide through easier.

Tommy,

My fishing buddy, a retired guide and bass pro. still soaks his plastics in a concoctation of cooking oil and anise seed oil.

He swears by the anise oil and has been doing this since the world was water.

I have not use the anise oil in a long time since I became a fan of JJs Magic and MegaStrike.

May go back to it for the fun of it in the future.

The smell drives my wife crazy and I have to close my Man Cave door.

Similar to Catt: 1/2 ounce pure Anise oil, in 4 ounces of Bait mate Bass, I put it in a pray bottle. I used to just use plain mineral oil, until I saw Catt post that he puts the Anise in Bait mate, except I use the BASS ( brown) formula.

I also like the Anise/Carwfish Smelly Jelly

Two of my buddies swear by JJ's, sucess videos aside over rated ! just supercharged garlic to me. Anise has always been my favorite.

I use mega strike I put it on every single lure I throw.

Get pure anise oil, not the extract with alcohol added. A few drops goes a long way with pure anise oil.

We used glycerin mixed with anise oil before commercial scents were available, very slippery concoction. The Fliptail worms had glycerin and anise oil in the original 100 count package.

I buy Humco 100% Anise Oil

I do not use any of the products with glitter and I do not use spray bottles but not because of waste but because the spray mechanism don't hold up.

I major word of caution: do not spill the Fish Formula and anise oil on your carpet; it will dissolve your carpet glue!

Where could I expect to find anise oil? Grocery store?

I just bought some carolina lunker in shad, thinking I should have got garlic, you know, second guessing myself.  Also got some stuff I never seen before, Bioedge in crawfish.

Should have got the garlic?
