I've long used the bargain lines line Stren and Trilene, but over the past two years I've upgraded my rods from Ugly Sticks to decent rods like Shimano Crucial and St Croix Avid.

I figure it's time I went with a better grade line to get more out of the rods.

What are your favorite mono lines for spinning?

I'd always like Sufix Elite in 8# for my spinning gear so I never used anything else when I was using Mono.

Well, it's not nylon mono... but Yo-Zuri Ultrasoft 6lb is gradually taking over most of my spinning reels...

Sunline Super Natural is my favorite mono but I use a lot of co polymer and I like P-Line, Sunline, and Yo-Zuri.

i've went with Yo-Zuri ultra-soft in 6lb and getting ready to try 8lb..use KVD line conditioner.. ;)

i've also got 2 spools rigged with Power Pro 20lb braid (6lb mono diameter) and like it real well.

Yo-Zuri, Trileen and BPS.

BPS' Excel mono is very good and since I go through a lot of it when tournament fishing the price will not hurt your pocketbook. :)

I've been a fan of trilene xl for 40+ years, and i still use it . I have tried many different lines up until about 5 yrs. ago, but now i just stick to xl. This year 2 rods (dropshot, senko/fluke) have braid and those will stay braid. But the other 3 will have mono- 1000 yd. spools of 6,8,10# will last me the season of 5 line changes. Good line, good price. Am i missing out by not using a "premium" line? Maybe...but i'm ok with that.

X2 on the BPS Excel. Until I got a killer deal on 14,000 yards of Yo-Zuri Ultrasoft, I used Excel with complete satisfaction in 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, and 17lb test.

Trilene XT (8lb) on my spinning, Trilene Big Game on my baitcasters(15lb) best monofilaent out there. IMO

I have had the exact opposite happen to me. The Excel mono I don't really like for spinning reels, although I really like it for my baitcasters. For spinning, I am going back to trulene XL

I never use anything over 8lb. on spinning gear and I've found that BPS Excel or Cabela's house brand work as well as any other mono at a fraction of the cost.

Stren Magnathin

Mustad Ultraline

Both have served me well. I can get the Mustad line in 1# spools for $10 and have been very impressed by it after using it for a couple years. I had some 10lb on a baitcaster fishing a bucktail for hyprids a couple years ago and landed a 42lb flathead. It even swam into something while I was fighting it but my line held up and she swam back out and I managed to get her in the boat.
