Super User BrianinMD Posted September 12, 2011 Super User Posted September 12, 2011 Wondering if anyone has any thoughts on a 2000 Triton TR19, it has a 150HP Johnson. Not sure what else it has, a club member who has been having some health issues. The motor only has 40 hours on it total. I know the motor is not the highest HP the platform will take which is a concern. I am not looking for outright speed, would be my first boat, more concerned with stability and something easy to drive. The last time it was used was 2 weeks ago and supposedly no issues. He is currently asking 8k for it. Quote
Sfritr Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 Only 40 hours on a 12 year old boat???? Something seems off IMO  Quote
Vickers Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 I have a 2009 Triton 19 express with a 200 Merc Optimax... I love the boat. I have always liked Triton boats. If the hours are correct, I would get it inspected by a real marine mechanic. That sounds like a good deal if the boat is nice and doesnt need anything. Was it garage kept? Quote
Super User BrianinMD Posted September 13, 2011 Author Super User Posted September 13, 2011 It has not been garaged kept, but it has been covered. I have been told it appears to be in great shape, it is stored at another club members place along with several other boats from the club. The one thing each of them says is it does not be used hardly at all. I should go see it this weekend if it looks good I have a marine mechanic who would give it a complete check. The current owner has not advertised it for sale, only came up after a tourney and he is giving me first look at it. Quote
Sfritr Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 By all means take a look. I would definately have it looked at by a certified mechanic to give the engine a detailed once over. Also, if it has been kept outside I would look the flooring and for any cracks etc. Also check the tires and straps, they could have some dry rot Quote
Fontana Finesse Man Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 I fished out of a 1999 TR 19 for 5 years and loved every minute of it. Boat was quick out of the hole, excellent top end and a good solid ride. Only time I wished it was bigger was in big water when the wind was howling and waves were rolling! Then it was rough, but I always managed to get back to weigh in. Pulled well, was easy to manuever while trailered and on the water. I now have a 20 ft and love it, but I still long for my 19 alot of days. Storage was excellent also. Like others, have it checked out, but if hours are true, it is a pretty good deal. Quote
Super User Hooligan Posted September 14, 2011 Super User Posted September 14, 2011 TR19 is a solid rig. I fished out of a TR19 for four years, then went to a 20. I wish I had the 19 most of the time now. 40 hours on a 12 year old ride isn't out of the question; I had 2 hours on my 225 in two years from running on no wake and electric only lakes. It's not uncommon to see low hours on the big motor and still have a boat that's been fished. Quote
Super User Nitrofreak Posted September 14, 2011 Super User Posted September 14, 2011 8k is not a bad deal at all for this boat if it truly is what they say. You really should go check it out and have it checked out and before you hand him the money, have him take you for a ride and get familure with the boat and all of its little quirks and do a little fishing from it while your out if you can, I feel sure you will fall in love with that boat since it is your first one just be careful and make sure it really is what you want. Be safe and have fun!!! Quote
oteymc Posted September 17, 2011 Posted September 17, 2011 If you have looked around at all, craigslist, boat trader, etc. you'll know that is a pretty good price. Not familiar with that exact model, but a 2000 model in good shape, 19ft no issues for 8k - that will sell pretty easy. Assuming it is like they are telling you, of course. Quote
Super User BrianinMD Posted September 17, 2011 Author Super User Posted September 17, 2011 Took a look..... Boat itself is in decent shape but trailer will need work to replace the fenders. Could not take a test run, it had 8 inches of water sitting in it. The bilge ran the battery dead and he had the plug in during Earl. He is taking it to the marine shop for a good going over. Quote
