So I posted this morning about waiting for my buddy to get to the house to head out fishing, and I said I would post a report, so here it is...

Got out on the lake around 6:15 just at sun-up. Started fishing our usual spots with a couple of misses...and then I land a little guy on a thumper. Fish around on all of the points, drop offs and everywhere else I have caught fish recently, including Friday. It was slow today, but we did manage 12 keepers, 7 me and 5 Paul. Big fish of the day went to Paul at 3lb 4oz and I had a couple others right at the 3 lb mark. My fish came like this: 2 on the thumper and 5 with Jig. Pauls were: 3 on worm, and 2 carolina rigged fluke. Not the pattern we have seen in the last week of spinnerbaits and red-eye shads, but we did manage to catch a few.

We got in the truck to leave at 12:20

similar results at cville today... fished from early morning to 10.

During the early morning shad on top everywhere.but it wasnt like they were being eaten.

just chased. it was weird. they were just dimpling the top but that dies down by 8ish.

casting to sports with my trusty superfluke but never got a hit.

So i got out my fly rod and started throwing a clouser minnow that looked just like a shad in the water.

first cast. BAM 1.5 lber. then nothing. caught a few more on the clouser and a few on a white popping bug but size was terribly poor.

the 1.5 lber was the biggest. worker most ares of the pond.

2 locals beat the bank the whole way around the pond with spinnerbaits and had 2 small bass between them to show for it.

Great job Jeff. I'm like you. I'm up at 4:30-5:00 every morning. If it's a work day I try to snooze a bit more. If not, I jump in the boat and head out. If my partner can't get up that early or can't be there until a certain time, I'll pick him up at the dock. If I get there and he's not there, and I haven't gotten a message, I wait a few minutes then adiós.
