Fat-G Posted September 11, 2011 Posted September 11, 2011 B-Dozer: Yeah, I got him a Daiwa Exceler a while ago. It was the reel he caught it on, and he loves it. Im trying to get him to upgrade to a decent rod now. He's still using $35 dollar Gander rods, So I want to get him something better. Maybe a Veritas, even though I dont like those rods, he will be stoked with it. Im trying to get him to try out a casting outfit too. He wont try em' cause he thinks he's just gonna backlash all the time. And Fat-G: Thanks man, we we're freaking out and shouting, the only other angler there was in shock. It's actually really funny because what I forgot to mention in the story was that there was a wedding there about 200 feet away. Needless to say we distracted them for a good 5 minutes My boy Tony and I crashed a wedding one time. Just walked up uninvited. We both hooked up with two girls. Vulnerable.
Big-O Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 Excellent Fish, Congrats to you and your Dad! Big O www.ragetail.com
bwell Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 Nice fish but definitely not 13lbs, I would buy a new scale... A club member at our tournament this weekend caught one about that size and it went 7lbs 5oz. 1
shimmy Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 I may be wrong but the Potomac river record for a largemouth bass on the VA side is 10.1 lbs. So, congrats! You beat the state record by 3 pounds. This is truly a historic event... http://www.nationalbass.com/reports/kincheloe.htm 1
lynyrdsky1 Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 Man nice fish that's a florida strain right?

bwell Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 Yeah man you need a new scale. That fish isn't close to 13lbs, did you really have scale with you??? It's kinda hard to believe what you say sometimes... 2
Super User J Francho Posted September 12, 2011 Super User Posted September 12, 2011 Same fish, being released:
B-Dozer Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 Wow J, doesn't even look close to the same fish! Those Heritage kayaks are pretty nice, don't see too many around any more.
brushhoggin Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 after seeing those butch brown pics, i dont think anyone can tell you what that fish weighs by those pics. thats incredible. 2 lbs??! i definitely thought that was a solid 5. even thats a dink for butch. oh and nice fish clarey. its you and pops gettin on a good fish that really matters. don't listen to the party poopers 2
Super User BASSclary Posted September 12, 2011 Author Super User Posted September 12, 2011 Checked the scales over and over. Zero'd then placed 10 and 20 lb weights on. Measured 10 and 20 lbs. Haters gonna hate on the fish I guess. And I wouldn't lie about the weight of my dad's fish. 2
North Ga Hillbilly Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 The d**n fish weighed what it weighed, leave the guy alone. I could say I caught the swamp thing yesterday, dosen't hurt you any. NGaHB 1
B-Dozer Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 Don't worry about it BC, nice fish, glad for your own piece of mind you weighed it with two scales. It'll will be a good memory for you and your Dad. Bet I know where you're gonna fish next time. : )
baluga Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 That's a HAWG, no matter how much it weights. Congrats to your Dad's PB, nothing like a memorable catch with Dad. 1
Vinny Chase Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 I've gone through the same thing where people have called me out on my fish, but you can't let it get to you..there are so many variables that can alter the size of the fish. Congrats!
North Ga Hillbilly Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 Next time make sure he cheats the picture and pulls the go-go-gadget-arm move NGaHB
tyrius. Posted September 16, 2011 Posted September 16, 2011 Look at all the internet weight experts!!! Why should anyone ever buy a scale when we can just ask the "experts" here? 1
