Vinny Chase Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 I have been using the EWG offset hook texas rig, but have lost 3 big fish already. I was wondering if there is a good weighted hook i could buy that just slides up the tube and the eye throught the top. Thanks Quote
OIFBasser Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 I like to use jigs for tubes, but if you are going for weedless I rip the tube evenly and put a 3/0 hook in the spot where I ripped. I haven't used the Lake fork craw tubes, but I have good luck with the *** tubes. Quote
Willzx225 Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 What size EWG are you using? I use the Yum Vibra King tube a lot and have found that the Owner Wide Gap Plus 4/0 is perfect for that. I used the 3/0 verson last year and lost a few key fish. Quote

TommyBass Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 You shouldn't be having that problem... I use Gamakatsu EWG both 4/0 and 5/0 on the LF craw tubes and they work fine for me. Maybe a weedless jighead would work as well. Quote
NOVA Angler Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 I flip the Lake Fork Craw Tube a lot and use 5/0 Owner Wide Gap Plus. The the hook point sits above the eye and I think it has improved hookups for me compared to the Gamakatsu EWG 5/0. I've also heard that tying a snell knot can help increase hookups. I haven't tried it yet, but probably will next time I'm out for fun. Check them out: http://www.ownerhooks.com/pages/products/hooks/basshooks.htm Quote
