Avalonjohn44 Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 ... I lost my best Bandit Lure today. A Bandit 100 in color code 15 - Pearl with a Chartreuse back. He's been with me for five years, a true companion. I got him off of the promotion rack at the Super Wal-Mart in Winchester VA. I've been dragging him through my local waters on nearly every fishing trip I've been on for the last five years. He was gouged, nicked, scratched, and missing an eye. His lip was so dinged up that I had to file it down. He'd caught me more bass than I can count, Smallies out of the Shenandoah and Potomac, Large Mouths by the hundreds out of Izaak Walton's Winchester Pond. I almost named my son after him, but my wife would have nothing of it, not wanting a kid with the middle name Bandit... He out-fished LC CBs, LC RCs, Rapalas by the score, Megabass Griffons, and every other high dollar lure in my tackle box. I'd replaced his hooks with VMC Barbarians, and he was the best hard plastic friend a guy could have. The worst thing was at his moment of need, I let him down. I didn't lose him on a fish. I didn't lose him on a rock, branch, or any other type of snag. The knot didn't give out on a cast. I left him on a bench. I think he fell off and I missed picking him up. Hopefully he's living with a fisherman that can appreciate his many talents. *sniff*... :'( :'( :'( Off to Wal-Mart... Quote
TrippyJai Posted July 15, 2009 Posted July 15, 2009 awwwww... this time, you should pick up 10 so you won't be heart broken again. Quote
Avalonjohn44 Posted July 15, 2009 Author Posted July 15, 2009 Have you put up lost posters? At this point I can only hope his new owner doesn't give him a watery grave to quickly... Quote
Blue Streak Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 Maybe you could get it's picture on milk cartons. Quote
basser89 Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 Jealous I be Avalonjohn!!! I've been in the Winchester Super Wally World once. I wish my Wally World up 81 from you had half the selection as the one in Winchester!!! That really stinks on how you lost it! Back ups are a MUST for Favorite baits IMO! btw, the Bandit 100 series is one of my favorite crankbait series! Quote
bigtimfish Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 The best part about your Bandit that outfished overpriced stuff is, it can be easily replaced for about $5 or $6 bucks. I also love all of my badits. Mad cow has been the best color for me. Quote
DRhodes Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 hopefully your next bandit in that color will be as good of a companion as the previous. Good Luck Quote

Very generic stuff, nothing very exciting... We have two Super Wal-Marts now in Winchester, and neither sports an adequate fishing dept... Quote
SuperNewbie Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 i know how you feel my 200 blue back chart sides bandit was my best friend. Eddie Munster Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 That's really a great read John. Thanks. I, too have a lil' Bandit 100 buddy and even though I haven't had him that long, my appreciation of him is great. This April, as I was scouting out for some spawning bass in my lake, I noticed some fishing line hanging from a tree. Knowing it was probably just a plastic worm up there, I went over and checked it out. Surprise, surprise; a tree ornament. A Bandit 100 series in Tennessee Shad color. I thought to myself 'guess some bank fisherman lost this lil' guy.' The hooks were kind of rusty and bent, and it was pretty dirty. Changed out the hooks, cleaned it up and tried it out about a week later. Since then, it's been my #1 producer of bass and even some very chunky bluegills. On Tuesday this week, I even caught two fish at the same time on the lil guy (1.5 and 1 #er). He is my most inexpensive lure (can't beat free!) and my most valuable one. Quote
Avalonjohn44 Posted July 16, 2009 Author Posted July 16, 2009 LOL, thanks. I hope he lands in the hands of someone like you... I have some new ones coming from TW. I promise to give each one the respect they deserve. Quote

Never tried the shallow/medium ones before him but now I'm hooked (pardon the pun). Granted, I'm like Travis Henry though (any port in the storm) because he's just one of my shallow cranks now as I bought some L.C. ones too. Quote
