WABass Posted February 24, 2007 Posted February 24, 2007 We all know the LC pointers are probably the best jerkbait around, but what is the second best? Rouges, Xraps, husky jerks, I have some LCs but they get spendy in my neck of the woods and was wanting to buy a few jerkbaits that wont hurt so bad if lost. Quote
Valascus Posted February 24, 2007 Posted February 24, 2007 My vote goes to the Rapala X-rap, followed by the Smithwick Suspending Pro Rogue, and that's followed by the Rapala Husky Jerk. I just haven't had much luck with the Husky Jerk. The X-raps and Rogues are another story though. Great fish catchers. Quote
Super User RoLo Posted February 24, 2007 Super User Posted February 24, 2007 I'd go with the X-Rap, and since you didn't say "hard", the Zoom Super Fluke. Roger Quote
Brad_Coovert Posted February 24, 2007 Posted February 24, 2007 Second to Lucky Craft would be Husky Jerks and Bombers for me. Brad Quote

skillet Posted February 24, 2007 Posted February 24, 2007 I would have to go with the Rapala. I realize they don't have anything to do with each other but I started out with the Rogues because they were manufactured by the same people as made the Devil's Horse (IMO they are great). IMO I have a problem getting the Rogues to truly suspend (maybe 1 out of a bunch)..... As Ever, Skillet Quote
Super User Munkin Posted February 24, 2007 Super User Posted February 24, 2007 I do not think there is a second best jerkbait? Some days the fish just prefer one over the other. Others have mentioned some good baits but I would like to add the Team Daiwa minnow to the list. http://www.***.com/descpageHDRDAIWA-TDM425.html# Allen Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted February 24, 2007 Super User Posted February 24, 2007 From a "product quality" stand point, X-Rap and Husky Jerk stand well above the Smithwick Rogue. However, all three of these lures catch fish. You just need to test your Rogues before fishing them and then keep an eye on them because they also go bad. I buy mine at BPS and have never had a problem exchanging defective products. Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted February 24, 2007 Super User Posted February 24, 2007 Beeing reluctant to pull the trigger onthe expensive lucky crafts, I only fish Rapala's. For years I was a husky jerk guy, this year I bought a complete selection of #8 x-raps, can't wait to try them. I guess my "2nd favorite" behind the Husky jerks would be the original floating Rapala. What makes you think LC Pointers are the best? No one jerkbait is the best "jerkbait" IMHO LC Pointers are way to overrated. People hype them up to be some kind of super jerkbait. Rapala X-RAPS have given me better success. You can buy two of them for less than the price of 1 LC Pointer 2 X-RAPS > 1 LC Pointer Quote
