been using invisx 12# recently, and am now finding my self having to make hooksets at 50-70ft out and not getting that tight solid hookset im used to. granted i just switched from braid/floro leader to all floro so i understand i gotta settle with some stretch, but am wondering if tatsu will have significantly less stretch than invisx?

at 50-75 feet i would think anything is gonna feel like it like it will have some stretch. but to answer your question i think tatsu will have less stretch than invisx and will be definitely more manageable.

Yes, Tatsu has significantly less stretch. You can get a good set with it at that distance, without feeling like you're setting the hook on a bungie cord.

go back to braid.

Braid doesn't solve everything

go back to braid.

Or use sharper hooks, LOL.

Seriously, what baits, and what's the details? Braid or braid with a leader might be the solution, but it might also be just a bandaid that covers up something else that's wrong.

If you're using a baitcasting set-up and a low stretch FC is what you're looking for....Shooter is the best choice in my opinion, Toray Solaroam is a close second, with Tatsu being third. Spinning gear, Tatsu for sure.

I've found TackleTour's test data to be pretty accurate.

Dodge and Franco, we had that great thread at Nybass about braid/floro vs all floro. Most leaned towards braid/floro so I tried it out, works real well but I find it shortens your casts, and increases likelihood of back lashes because of the leader knot (Alberto). Now I am also considering some rods with micro guides and have concerns about the leader knot and even smaller guides, so am seeing if floro will work for me. FYI leader is about 6ft

After purchasing a new rod I am now casting with floro 20-30% (alot of this i believe is the rod with a little because of no knot) further than I have before and am reaching spots no one has been able to cast to before ( this is in central park), so usually on the first drop I am getting bit and it feels like I got rubber band for line.

Franco, the bait is a fat ika on a owner twist lock 5/0 hook, 12# invisx, Steez 7' svf mh rod, Steez 103 reel.

Dodge do you do straight braid or with leader?

Might have to try shooter if the tatsu doesn't perform, if that doesn't work back to braid for most of my setups.

i use straight braid with no leader.let me explain why.after years of switching lines and keeping track of fish counts i have found that overall i don't think line visibilitymeans a dam thing.i've used flouro one year and my count went up.i was psyched.the next year i used it my count went down.i've used mono and tons of different brands of braids.i've fished next to guys with floro and the bite was tough and we both caught close to the same amount of fish.sometimes the flouro got more sometimes my braid did.my conclusion is it's all about putting your bait in front of a fish that wants it and has nothing to do with line visibility at all.since braid is without a doubt the most sensitive line out there i choose braid for all my fishing.i no longer worry if i have the right line because i know i do.

solves this issue.

It does solve the issue. I use a fairly short leader, 15" or so, there is no noticeable stretch to a leader that short. I get solid hooksets and distance is not a problem, however over the years I do not put as much importance on distance as I once did.

I would never use mono or copoly or anything that feels like a long elastic band.

Straight braid, unless you encounter abrasive cover, or deal with zebra mussels, then use a 3-6' leader of 12# fluoro or copoly. Use an Alberto knot to make the connection.

A well tied Albright or Alberto knot should pass through micro guides down to a size 4 no problem.

Tie two half hitches with the braided tag end over the Alberto., Be sure to trim the fluoro tag really close. Never had ANY issues with the knot causing backlashes using up to 80# braid and 25# leaders.
