What Can I Do?

hey guys I got a question I gotta ask you guys. Maybe someone can help chime on how to catch bass during this time. So I was fishing near some tullie patches and I see 4-lb bass jumping out of the water. They would do it constantly. I can't see what they are chasing or whatever, but they wouldn't take anything that I threw at them. I had senkos, flukes, topwaters, etc. and nada. So if anyone knows anything about this and how to catch bass when they're like this let me know okay.

Are u sure there bass? I have carp jump like this all the time and some times I think there bass and will do as u did only to get skunked. But when it os bass for sure I usually see minnows fleeing first so I throw a fluke and almost always get a limit fast that or spinners work well.

You could always throw a fly if u had a fly rod iv done that to get the carp or bass

If it's bass, there will usually be several blow-ups at one time as apposed to just one. If you see several blow-ups in a concetrated area, then bass are usually chasing a school of shad and I suggest throwing something that represents the shad, like a rattle trap or pointer minnow.

If you're seeing just one blow up, like up against the bulk head or wall, then it's probably just one or two bass chasing a bream or other bait. I would stick to the fluke, spook or something similar and put it right infront of the blow-up while it's happening. Sometimes bass will chase and corner the baitup against structure and then return to the drop off or ledge.

guys I'm sure it's bass. I saw it leap out of the water literally like how seals fly out when sharks hit them up in the air. That's why I'm so curious as how to catch them when this happens. I also saw massive boils like how Bassn Blvd described, but it's not the one that happened next to the tullie. Anyone else have any suggestions?

If it is just one bass blowing up on a bluegill or shad it's possible they might have caught what they were chasing and are too busy dealing with that to worry about your bait. If they missed their intended target though, you should be able to throw a fluke, spook jr, or weightless tube just past the boil and fish it fast. Make it look like a baitfish that was just nearly eaten and is trying to get away, if the fish is still there and still hungry you should get a fast strike.

see that was the problem there. They blew up more than once. It was a tule patch and the bass would boil on the other side then boil to the right, then left, in the middle, etc. I threw everything I had and didn't even hook up into one at all.

Believe it or not, bass up here will blow up on the surface this time of year feeding on damsel and/or dragon flies. I ususally see this around lilly pads. I've caught a few bass with these flies in their mouths, so I use poppers around the edges or I may run a spinnerbait just under the surface right in the lilly pad field. I will say tho, that these bass are not in the 4 pound class, so I'm guessing that they are chasing bait fish like others have said. We don't have shad, so bluegill, pumkinseed or golden shiners maybe other baitfish that could be present.
