Talmadge Posted September 4, 2011 Posted September 4, 2011 hey guys i got some kinami flash worms today they are 5 inch black and gold. i wasnt sure what size worm hook to get for them (im new to plastics) so i got 2/0 cheap-o southbends and 3/0 matzuos what size would you guys recommend for them? and anyone ever use these before they look alot like the senko worms (i guess thats because they are both made by gary yamamoto hahaha) but if you have used them any luck? and any tips for fishing them thanks alot guys Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted September 4, 2011 Global Moderator Posted September 4, 2011 Fish them like a regular senko, they are a lot alike. I like a 4/0 EWG hook for mine but you should be fine with a 3/0 also. Quote
NBR Posted September 4, 2011 Posted September 4, 2011 Identical to Senkos except for number of colors and quanity in the bag. Quote
BassinMidWest Posted September 4, 2011 Posted September 4, 2011 3/0 or 4/0 is great! 3/0 will give you a slower fall, and more of a free wiggle then a larger hook will. A larger hook will give you a faster fall so it's better when you're fishing deep water. Quote
Super User Marty Posted September 4, 2011 Super User Posted September 4, 2011 I prefer a 4/0 extra wide gap for 5" Senkos or Kinami. Make sure you have enough hook gap for room for it to get through the plastic and into the fish. Quote
Talmadge Posted September 5, 2011 Author Posted September 5, 2011 Thanks a lot everyone! i went out today to my local lake (regional lake in cerritos) and used the kinami with the 3/0 and didnt get anything fished it super slow on the bottom and nothing switched it out for a jointed floating rebel trout colored and got an okay largemouth about 2 pounds biggest ive ever gotten there hahah Quote
Avid Angler FL Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 Actually, I have two bags of Kinami 5 inch Flash baits. In the Moss color the worms have a wave logo on them like the Kinami logo, but on the Watermelon Pepper color baits it actually says GYB on the baits, so Gary put senkos into the Kinami bags! But either way, they work the same, just more of personal preference and what brand you like more. Quote
Talmadge Posted September 7, 2011 Author Posted September 7, 2011 i thought they looked the same! hahaha thanks for the info man i have yet to catch a bass on one yet but still trying Quote
Packard Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 They are owned by Gary Yamamoto's son. Quote
bman310 Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 Go out before the sun pops out and throw a Kanami 5" June Bug (or black with blue) colors and you should get some action. It also works in in overcast or dark waters too. As far as other Kinami colors, just use colors similar to what u are using on other baits. I generally use Yamamoto Senkos, but there are a few I use from Kinami because they aren't offered by Yamamoto or Yum. -b Quote
onion man Posted September 10, 2011 Posted September 10, 2011 I don't fish senkos much, but everyone has had to fish them at one point or another. Gamakatsu, owner, trokar, etc. are the better hooks out there. Pricey, but if saving $2 for buying the cheap pack, it could mean losing that 5 pounder. I like to fish 3/0 as much as possible because if gives the bait more action, but if the fish are short striking move up to 4/0. Hope this helps! Quote
