7'' Senko How You Rigging Yours??

Caught the best fish of the day on a wacky 7" senko, but was wondering how others have found success fishing them. Hook size, weight or weightless etc.

I riged mine with a 6/0 ewg superline but I haven't thrown any 7" senkos this year

4/0 EWG hook, T-rigged and weightless. Don't catch a lot of fish on senko's/ocho's that big, but the ones I do are nice fish.

There's a great thread that is "Pinned" at the top of this forum called "Senko FAQ". Take a look at all the things you can learn about that bait. It's been covered time and time again.

Great on a c-rig where big fish are present. I also opt for the larger ones in the fall when bass are lookin to get fat!

SORRY- I did look at the Senko FAQ but didn't see anything readily apparent on the 7 inch senko and little came up on a search. I just didn't have the time to go through all the FAQ to try to find info specific to the 7 inch

Summer & Fall have been my best opportunities for quality LM's with the 7". I rig them Texas style with a 5/0 or 6/0 hook. I prefer this way because it accents the wiggle as it falls. I think it's because of the weight of the hook. Anyway, when you line starts to move, ya gotta know, it ain't no dink!

One of my favorite baits to fish at night I t-rig them with a 5/0+ EWG hook. If I'm fishing a 5" senko it will usually be on a wacky rig but I feel the 7" is just too bulky.

Usually T rigged with a 5/0 or 6/0 EWG hook, unweighted. If it's mid-day I may go with a C rig.

I don't fish them much, but if you can get away with it go weightless. The bait is loaded with salt and whatever and should cast a mile. Should be a big fish bait. If you go deep, c-rig.

First i like to modify my senkos, i'll take scissors and cut some appendages at the tail end of the bait (around 4 tails), it almost looks like a cross between a tube and a senko. So now when it falls the little appendages dance and wriggle for added attraction.

When i want to fish my senkos faster like when the fish are more active i'll texas rig it with a lead shank hook in red color.

If i want to fish slower and more naturally, for example in more pressured waters, or clearer lakes i'll fish it weightless.

Remember to use fluorocarbon for invisibility, sensitivity, strength, and lack of stretch(gives bait better action).

Wacky rigging gives the fish a different look and can trigger more strikes, i use a circle hook.

I might be trying some 7 inch ones next year after reading some of these responses. I usually always use 4 inch and 5 inch ones.

Since the thread is still alive;

7" Senko rigged with an o-ring and Gammy #3056* size 3/0 on 14# FC.

Sometimes will add a 3/32 oz nose nail weight if fishing water deeper than 15'.

Well, we're letting this stuff go for awhile.

The "Senko Wave" seems to have dissipated, so...

Probably the biggest bass I ever caught was on a 9" Yum Dinger which they only make in a fork tail now. I rig the 7's the same way though and almost fish it like a punching bait except you have to look for more sparse lilly pads. I t rig it with a 1/8 bullet weight on a 5/0 hook. Toss that sucker into a bunch of lilly pads let it sit on the bottom and slowly drag it out giving a tiny hop every once in a while just to get their attention. When I was in Canada a couple years ago we went through 4 bags of 9" dingers in one day rigged that way! We couldn't keep em off those baby's. When we ran out we were tryin to "catch" the worms off the bottom cause the bass didn't want anything else, at least not the way they liked the dingers!

Owner 5/0 offset and peg a 3/8 bullet just off the nose. Flip into the thickest brush you can find. I like white for this. The baits don't hold up that well but get more hits than beavers, hogs, etc for some reason. Just wish they weren't so spendy.

6/0 Offset worm or 6/0 straight shank round bend. I don't like to use EWG if I can get away with it on these baits.
