Teh Posted September 2, 2011 Posted September 2, 2011 Fishing with a friend a couple weeks ago and he caught this guy. The hook was lodged in the back of his throat but we finally got it out with some plier's. He was hissing like crazy, not a happy camper! Quote
Diggy Posted September 3, 2011 Posted September 3, 2011 Ive had a few run ins with turtles recently...it sucks, annoying, inconvenient and sad all at the same time I had to get 2 sets of trebles out of a turtle that kept hooking itself during the struggle...ridic Quote
WdyCrankbait Posted September 3, 2011 Posted September 3, 2011 Teh, good job for you getting that hook out of him. I am sure he didnt want that surviner (spell). Also, welcome to the forums! Quote

Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted September 3, 2011 Global Moderator Posted September 3, 2011 I sight fished a big snapper out of a pond on a senko. Guy I gave him to said he made good soup I had one stop a Husky Jerk once, hardest hit I've ever had on a jerkbait. They will eat about any bait you pull in front of them though. Quote
joshholmes Posted September 3, 2011 Posted September 3, 2011 my uncle once caught a 2 foot long snapper on a senko while fishing around some weeds. he had to have a friend hold its mouth shut so he could unhook it. are lake is full of turtles, and bass . i once had one bigger than i thought existed surface right next to my canoe. have me a good scare, and a good laugh for my family a few feet away Quote
BassinMidWest Posted September 4, 2011 Posted September 4, 2011 Biggun! Makes good stew though if you wanna take the time to fix it! Quote
Talmadge Posted September 4, 2011 Posted September 4, 2011 turtles are such a pain in the *** especially when they break your favorite spinnerbait hahaha Quote
Teh Posted September 6, 2011 Author Posted September 6, 2011 Thanks for the welcome! I didn't think we'd be able to get the hook out, it was lodged in there pretty good. You would think it would have stopped hissing and snapping at us and been alittle more grateful, must have been a female....haha. (just kidding to the ladies) Quote
Hyrule Bass Posted September 6, 2011 Posted September 6, 2011 i like to look at turtles, as far as handling them, thats another story. i dont care what bait im using im going to cut my loses when i hook a turtle. fishing with my brother in law one night for catfish and kept getting terrorized by a turtle. we must of caught him 7-8 times and never got a single hook out of it. the thing was huge, i did feel kinda sorry for the guy having all those hooks stuck in him, but i wasnt putting my hands anywhere near it. we would be like "i got a nice one here" and pull up that turtle, after the first couple times we were like "i think i got that turtle again". atleast he fought hard, cause nothing else was biting that night with him around...
