flippin4it. Posted September 3, 2011 Posted September 3, 2011 l have heard that but have not confirmed it myself.. does board run river in PWC (VA) contain small mouths? I was looking online and someone said they did? Quote
Alex 703 Posted September 3, 2011 Author Posted September 3, 2011 Board Run or Broad Run? Oops broad run Quote
Alex 703 Posted September 8, 2011 Author Posted September 8, 2011 I went yesterday to investigate. The river is huge and deep but boy was it muddy due to the rain this week. how do you guys fish a river that has a fast current running threw it? Or should I find a calm point of the river. Quote
quanjig Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 Probably not a good time to investigate any type of river system you are unfamiliar with right now due to all the rain. Might want to stick to a lake, pond or res till water levels are not so dangerous. Quote
Avalonjohn44 Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 Broad Run in Northern VA does have smallmouth, but mostly Largemouth... I have fished this stream/river since I was a kid and would estimate that I catch about 10 or 15 LMs for every 1 SM. They aren't that prevalent, at least in the Ashburn section that I fish. Goose Creek, which is very close, has a much better smallmouth population IMO. From the Golf Course down past the old dam, you can catch some nice smallmouth. If you really want smallies though, go to the Potomac, anywhere from Point of Rocks to American Legion Bridge and you will catch the bronzebacks in greater number than either Broad Run or Goose Creek... Bigbarge50 Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 Think the smallie bite is picking up now post rain and some cooler temperatures? In general people still getting out in NOVA and the action picking up? Will actually have more than 5 minutes free here in the next 2 weeks and want to get out on the water..... the board has been rather quiet, so curious how how everyone has been doing. Quote
VolFan Posted September 16, 2011 Posted September 16, 2011 Smallies were even picking up before the cold snap, so I'd think this'll really get them going. Stripers are in and busting too. It's a good time to fish. Quote
Alex 703 Posted September 16, 2011 Author Posted September 16, 2011 so for so good for me in Bristow/hay-market area.I have been catching 1-3 bass everyday now. Haven't tired broad run yet but ill think ill do it today. also I finally got a hatcam to do some recording up in nova Quote
