ICU812 Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 Went out on the Penobscot River to try to find some smallmouths and ended up with a new smallie PB! Not crazy huge but a PB for me and above average for the Penobscot from what I hear. And the river smallies are just fun. I just caught my first smallie this year and am just happy to be finally figuring the bronzebacks out a little. This one measured 19” and weighed 3.9 lbs. I was floating downstream and noticed a small inlet that I hadn’t seen on the way upstream. Motored over to it and this beauty hit a jig n craw just outside the inlet on my first cast! Made a great ending to my day of catching around 20 or so on the river. Got a few pics of some of the smaller ones on my thread if anyone’s interested. Tight lines! Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted September 2, 2011 Global Moderator Posted September 2, 2011 Very nice smallmouth! That's a big one around here! It's crazy to see guys on here catching 5 and 6 pound and bigger smallmouth and acting like it's nothing. Our state record isn't even 7 so a 3+lb fish is half the state record so I'm always excited when I get one like that! Quote
