The rod is a 7' MH-F(lure wt 3/8-1oz,line wt 10-20lb) with a 6.4:1 ration reel both are the Carbonlite. I was using this for cranks till I got myself another setup for that so now I'm stuck wondering what I should use the Carbonlite for? I have 14# XPS flouro on it but thought about switching off to mono or braid and use it for topwater Spooks and etc or just stay with the flouro and use it for the likes of C-rigs?

What would be your choices if was yours? for topwater what are good line for that? I tried a lil search for line but only came up with

I'd use that for spinnerbaits but topwater would work. I like to use braid on my Sammy 100 Rod. (Only topwater I fish.)

7' MH/F is the most versitale rod there is. It would make a killer spinnerbait rod, a good topwater rod, you can throw plastics on it, jigs, hollow body swimbaits, and C-rigs. Use it for whatever you need at the time. I would leave the 14lb floro on it and use it for all of the above with the exception of topwater (because of the floro).

Indeed. But my problem is I have Flouro on everything else and only have one rod that might work well for topwwater.

Here what I have ready and setup

Casting

7'M-MF Crucial. Curado 200E5, 10# Trilene flouro -Cranks

7'6 H-F E21 Carrotstix, Browning Citori, 50# Sufix 832- Frogs

6'6 MH-F PQ, PQ, 50# PowerPro- Jigs

7' MH-F Carbonlite, Carbonlite, 14# XPS flouro-??

Spinning

7' M-F Browning Citori, Pflueger President XT, 10# Sufix flouro- Chatterbaits,Spinners

6'8 M-XF Carbonlite, Pflueger Supreme, 10# XPS CarbonGold flouro- Shaky

6'6 M GanderMountain Tournament combo, 10# Trilene flouro- Wacky

If need to I sometimes even use my wife's 6'6 M-F Extreme combo, 50# PowerPro- Mostly C-rig when I do use. So I'm stuck wondering what to do with the Carbonlite.

Everybody will tell you something diff. but I would put PP braid on it and use it for topwater, especially dogwalking type baits. I find the limpness of the braid (as opposed to floro)will give a better side to side motion.I don't use spinning rods much, so for me I could also use it for chatterbaits. Spool it up, believe me you'll use it. :D

I have that exact combo spooled with 15# CXX. I use it for pitching most of the time. It also works great for chatterbaits, spinnerbaits, and frogs in my experience.

Edit: I just re-read the original post. I have that rod with a 6.4:1 PQ reel. I don't think that changes anything...I have also used this combo for C-rigs and it worked well.

Yea I went ahead and spooled it with some 15# P-line CXX will use for both Spooks if can if not mainly C-rigging like some insisted. Thanks for the post everyone!

Sounds like it would make a good jig or worm combo. Sometimes a faster GR is preferred, not a must have.

But it could be good for just about anything. Shallow cranks, spinnerbaits, small swimbaits and more. It wouldn't be my first choice for top waters (I like a M action better), but it'll do better then not throwing top water's at all! wink.gif
