Brand0n Posted September 1, 2011 Posted September 1, 2011 I was fishing the other day and by the bank in some weeds something stirred them up. I looked deeper and it was a school of 10-15 fish. I still can't figure out what they are. Crappie, bream, catfish are in the lake. They stayed in the school around the weeds. I threw a white rooster tail, caught one and lost it. Fought like it was the biggest thing in the lake. From the look of what I could see, it was kinda brownish on the top of it. It was def. bigger than a bluegill and kind of longer. Wasn't a bass. They were all the same size. Any idea? I'm in georgia and I still don't know all the gamefish that are here. The air temps have been in the upper 90s and the water im sure is a little warm also. If that helps. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted September 2, 2011 Global Moderator Posted September 2, 2011 Maybe white bass? They tend to school up and fight like crazy. Quote
Super User Ratherbfishing Posted September 2, 2011 Super User Posted September 2, 2011 sounds like carp to me Yeah, possibly a carp. Possibly foul hooked-which would explain why it pulled so hard. Quote
North Ga Hillbilly Posted September 3, 2011 Posted September 3, 2011 my guess is carp, was it a lake or pond? if it was carp you probably would hear and see them popping on top pretty regularly Quote
LWD Posted September 5, 2011 Posted September 5, 2011 brownish on the top? My guess'd be a channel catfish Quote
Super User Grey Wolf Posted September 5, 2011 Super User Posted September 5, 2011 Carp probably , never have seen a brownish channel cat. Quote
