Clark Stewart Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 Was at academy over the weekend. FYI to guys with baby boys - tell the wife you want some quality time with the boy - anytime I need to justify a trip to academy I pull that - she gets some alone time and I get some academy time without the "you ready to go yet?". Anyway! After my creature success of a previous post I went to academy to build a creature kit (I like to build kits ) and stumbled upon a plano box for about 6 bucks that is dark dark gray and about 8-10 inches long. Smaller than the big ones. The beauty of it was that it had 2 shelves with 4 latches. Two latches for one tray and 2 out to the side of those for the bottom tray. I crammed 23 bucks worth of tackle in that beauty and it will fit perfectly in my B.A.S.S. tackle bag they send with new memberships. I'm always looking for innovative tackle boxes like that that allow me to cram a little more into a little smaller space. It's a thing of beauty! Quote
NewAngler Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 How is that BASS bag? I think I'm gonna join, based on the bag fabtor alone! Not to mention the magazine, and sweet bumper sticker!!! Lol. Quote
Clark Stewart Posted July 13, 2009 Author Posted July 13, 2009 Don't let the insert fool you - it's a small bag but perfect for toting around or no-boating tournaments. It's about a foot long and 8 wide. Big enough for 3 or 4 of the slim plano boxes. I keep it in my car with a senko box, a crankbait box, and a little bigger box with jigs, spinnerbaits, etc. Also has a zippered pocket on the outside that's handy for a spool of line. Worth about 8 bucks i'd say! Quote
triwbass Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 i have two of the plano 4700's that fit perfectly in my all star bag that was free with purchase of a rod,,,,in one box i can esily fit all my small cranks mid cranks and lipless cranks which is about 60 lures Quote
Koop Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 Cark, yeah I saw those boxes at Dick's also. They were just unpackaging them, thought about buying a couple but ended up passing. Though they looked very nice I but were not tagged with a price and I was short on time and didn't feel like hunting an associate down. Quote
AndyPlaysDrums Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 I just picked up the red Cabela's 3700 Pro Guide bag. It was on sale for $24.99 - including the boxes!! An awesome deal, and I'm glad I did, because the sale is now off. It's a little bit bigger than what I probably need, but should be the last bag I buy for a long long time. When I go out for the day I just take the empty boxes out of it and I can fill it with whatever other things I'm taking along (snacks, towel, etc.) Quote
NewAngler Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 i bought a stupd little flambeau box and regret it. i had a store credit for gander mtn, and dint want to exceed it, so i bought a crappy box and worried more about the contents in it... i have no more room in it now, and am more than likely going to be getting a bigger box/ bag. DOH! Quote
Teal101 Posted July 14, 2009 Posted July 14, 2009 Got a basspro 3700 bag. Crammed 4 spools of line, about 20 bags of plastics, a 6"x6" or so jig tackle box, a spinner bait tackle box, a leader pouch, bucket of gulp leeches, small fly box, small terminal tackle box, 6 jars of powerbait, 7 3600 plano boxes(room for one more), one 3700 box on top of the 3600's, and a ton of misc crap like sunglasses container, leatherman, etc. Thing weighs about 55-60lbs but it holds all my stuff Quote
