Super User Bassn Blvd Posted September 1, 2011 Super User Posted September 1, 2011 I met SirSnookalot at the Boynton inlet Monday morning befor sun-up for some Snook action. As I'm walking out to the spot, what do I see? It was SirSnook battling a nice Snook on what most Snook fisherman would considere light tackle. SirSnook was able to muscle her in and we're guessing she went 15 pounds. She was absolutely beautiful too. Snook seaso opens at 12am September 1st, so obey the bag and size limit and have fun. Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted September 1, 2011 Super User Posted September 1, 2011 Thanks to Doug for climbing down on the ledge to release her for me. We tried the beach for a while and no bites, I then tried the next 2 days and still not another bite, bait was everywhere too yesterday, that's snook fishing. The more bait the harder it is to catch them, they are too busy inhaling live glass minnows, they don't need your piece of plastic. Today is the opener, I'll be out there of course but will avoid any popular fishing spot, too many bait fisherman looking for that slot. The tide is near perfect this morning, I anticipate a decent day. Update: Conditions were poor, west light breeze, flat water, no snook..........BUT 1 tapon, hehe, rather catch one those guys instead anyway. Hooked this 30 pounder in heavy outgoing current, thought it was an overslot snook as it did not jump at first and only made about 2 aerial assaults. Worked this juvie back against the current to my lofted position about 12 feet above the sea wall. I then walk the fish back to an area with no railing and only about 6' above the water, my friend lowers the pier net..............fish in ! Quote
