Hey guys,

Wondering if anyone has this sonar. I have heard of people having some problems with them but most of them sound like

set up issues rather than a problem with the unit. I would be putting this on a 16' Grumman Renegade, it currently

has two lowrance X67C's on it, this would replace the one on the console. I'm basically looking for something under

$700 that will do the most good fishing deep stuff. I also need the gps and ability to take map cards. I like the

ability to have both traditional and downscan, and this unit has decent wattage from what I understand. I want the

best I can afford and 700 is my max.

Also wondering how tough it would be as far as hooking it up, I work on my own truck, atv, ect. so have some

mechanical sense but have never installed a sonar and wiring is not my favorite gig.

Thanks,

Joe

If you do your shopping at a marine electronics dealer instead of Bass Pro, Cabelas, or any big box general sporting goods place, you can get the best DI/2D unit available now within your price range---788ci HD DI.

That model has dual card slots for mapping and recording/snaphots instead of the single one that the 597ci HD DI has.

The power, and display is the same.

For 2012, Humminbird will have larger screen DI/2D units on the market (higher price too).

Those units are easy to install if you read the instructions.
