My Carved Baits Finished!!

Fist off, I would like to say a Big Thank You to Lincoya on TU for the how to tutorial on carving baits!! Also like to thank all of the other TU guys that gave me tips along the way.(Dave, Gene & Ben) I would also like to thank Marty Burns for the super glue tip!! I started buying up my tools needed for bait carving back in July. I just bought a little at a time until I had enough to start on them. I actually carved these last week but was just now able to get them finished up this weekend, my painting has been keeping me busy :sweating: :sweating:

Here is my first try at carving some custom baits, all the baits ran great. Had to adjust the ballast on the two jerkbaits to make them a little lighter,so they would suspend.

This was my very 1st carved bait. I painted it in a Olemiss keepsake for my daughter. Hopefully she will keep up with it and pass it on to her kids one day.

This was my 2nd carved bait. I painted it in Foiled Photofinish Bluegill.

This was my 3rd bait carved. I painted it in Foiled Photofinish Pumkinseed.

This was my 4th bait carved. Painted it in Foiled Photofinish Dark Pumkinseed.

These are my 5th and 6th baits carved. Tried to carve them to the size and shape as a pointer 78. Painted them in a foil style, posted by deranglerundmehr in the how to section of TU.

I really enjoyed building these!! A lot of time goes into building them, but a great feeling of accomplishment when done!! I have already carved out several more but have not completed them yet.

Great work. You have nailed the photofinish technique. I also noticed the 3D scale technique on the 'Olemiss' lure. Impressive work.

You were a great help along the way!! A big thanks to Husky for the photofinish technique,I would have never learned how to do it, had he not posted the tutorial on TU!!

I will have to give credit to Mikko for the 3d scales, He was the awesome instructor on those!!

Thanks Marty!! Lol on the Olemiss lure, I have to pull for my Rebels, Although I think we might be in for another rough year!!The carving was an absolute blast. I sat outside this past Saturday, whittling away. Had some tunes playing on the radio and a route44 cup of unsweet tea, not a worry in the world. I still have a lot to learn on the bait making side of things, but I have enjoyed every minute of it. Now only to catch a bass on one!! Lol

Fishwhittler you do some very nice carving also. That bait with the super long bill was awesome. How in the world did you know where to put the line tie, on a bill that long?

I've found the line tie should generally be located within 1/4" of the midpoint of the bill on deep divers. I don't know yet if my Longbill is going to reach the depth I intended, so I may or may not need to adjust the location of the line tie.

Thanks Fishwhittler, I was wandering, for when I did some even deeper divers, where to come out with the line tie. I appreciate the reply!!
