dulouz Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 I have been trying to figure out some way to keep my rods safe and secure in my 12' aluminum V boat. I would appreciate seeing pics of what you have made or altered to hold your rods. Thanks. Quote

dulouz Posted August 30, 2011 Author Posted August 30, 2011 Pipe insulators, in the 1st 5 minutes or so: http://www.lunkerville.com/lunkerville1/jighead1.html That is a great idea! I was thinking more of a rod rack of some sort, but I am going to get some of those. Thank you very much. If anyone has any more ideas, please post them. Quote
Super User 00 mod Posted August 30, 2011 Super User Posted August 30, 2011 Here is what I did! Tubes are 22'' long and held up on the other side by a piece of aluminum I made to support the other ends! Here are a couple of pictures of the setup outside the boat and in. Quote

I picked some up today and they are perfect. I was wondering if there is a way to attatch them to the boat that would keep them on while trailering, yet let me replace them when they get worn out? Some sort of light adheasive, or possibly drilling tiny holes and zip tying them on (it's an idea I'm not crazy about)? Quote
Super User J Francho Posted August 30, 2011 Super User Posted August 30, 2011 I don't think anything short of glue would work, and even then, they'll get torn after a while. I used them for rentals, and you'll replace every season or so. Quote

I used them for rentals, and you'll replace every season or so. I had bought some clips that are designed for hanging yard tools, in hopes to clip over the foam to keep it on the boat. The clips turned out to be too small to fit over the foam, but they fit perfectly on the boat so I am going to try glueing the foam to the clips. If that doesn't work, I will just tie them down in the boat when I am in transit and put them on when I get there. I just thought it would be one less thing to get ready when I am at the ramp. I figured they will get pretty tore up, so that's why I didn't want to glue them to the boat. Thanks for the advice. Quote
the crab Posted August 31, 2011 Posted August 31, 2011 00 mod...where did you get the clips that hold the rod handles? Quote
Super User 00 mod Posted August 31, 2011 Super User Posted August 31, 2011 The clips are the same ones tracker uses for the pro angler16 boats. I ordered them through tracker marine and the tubes are from a golf shop for golf bag separators! The tracking system for the clips were also from tracker marine. I had to get a little creative on keeping the clips from moving though. I cut pieces of aluminum and made them fit into the track to wedge the clips together before I riveted it down to keep them moving. Jeff Quote

Jeff I really like the design, but my boat is quite small and doesn't have room for all that. Thanks for sharing. Quote
