I have been fishing buzzbaits all summer and havent caught one bass on them at 3 or 4 different lakes.  I have tried many different and actually bought some of the cavitron ones with no success.  Do you guys do anything different with buzzbaits to try to get strikes then throwing out and bringing in at different speeds.

Use it as a search bait then follow behind it with a baby torpedo or devils horse. I throw a buzzbait to make a lot of noise and get the fishes attention . Then with the other prop baits I will usually get the hook up.

I don't always do this - but the best buzzer I ever had was one that I "tuned" - tied it on the rod and let it hang out the back of the truck in a strong wind until it was squealing like a stuck pig - I caught lots of fish on that buzzer when others wouldn't work.  The other thing is, I never throw the buzzer when the sun is touching the water (either early morning or late evening usually, unless it is a real cloudy day).  I have seen other people catch on buzzers in bright sun, blue-bird skies, but I have never had any luck with that.

They usually start hitting buzzbaits in May around here.  I am still waiting.  My best day so far has been 3 and most days none.  I'm about to give up for this year.

Buzzbaits need to be used mostly in the mornings, evenings, and during cloudy weather. They can produce during the day sometimes though, especially in the shallows near heavy weedgrowth.

At some lakes though bass are conditioned to them and they don't work as well.

IMHO, buzz baits anger bass. Throw a buzz bait to the same area more than once (2/3 + time). It is rare that I get a hit on the first cast. If it look like a bass should be there, it is worth several cast.

The bass around here regularly hit topwaters, including buzzbaits, under blue skies as well as low light conditions. Have you been using other topwaters that are catching fish? If that's the case, I'd find it strange that they'd ignore buzzbaits. Whatever the problem might be, I doubt that it's a matter of brand name.

Are you catching fish on subsurface lures in the same places at the same times that you can't catch anything on buzzbaits? I think you should look at all these variables and try to narrow down some possible explanations.

Make sure you have one that makes a lot of noise and moves a lot of water! Throw them in and around any cover you can find. And like stated above, make repeated casts to the same general area! I replaced all my buzzers with Rage Tail Shads and Toads

I find buzzers to work best for me at dawn, dusk, cloud cover or night.  I also find that in certain areas (I fish from shore) where the fish get a lot of pressure and heavy angler exposure, they are not nearly as aggressive and will not hit any top waters.  If your fishing an area that is highly fished that could be the problem.
