yournamehere Posted August 28, 2011 Posted August 28, 2011 Hello- I would like to know if any of you have used some software to bulk enter way points and then transfer to the HDS-5 via sd card.? As you know entering a bunch of waypoints off a chart into these units is a pain. I see that Lowrance has some software called Gdm6, I am assuming that this is for the handheld GPSr units. THe HDS units are not listed in the compatibility list. Thanks Quote
Todd Driscoll Posted August 28, 2011 Posted August 28, 2011 I use NavPlanner 2 from Navionics. It has all the Navionics mapping built-in, so it is good for researching lakes you are not familiar with. It's not perfect. It is universal software that is compatible with numerous electronic brands, but because of this, your symbol choices in the HDS are not available in NavPlanner. However, no problem creating or importing/exporting HDS .usr files, but do know that NavPlanner 2 is not compatible with ver 4 files, only 2 and 3. You must save .usr files in ver 3 before importing into NavPlanner 2. Quote
Super User Jig Man Posted August 28, 2011 Super User Posted August 28, 2011 There are several ways to do what you want but you have not provided enough info for a good answer. Where are your "bulk" waypoints? What map datum are they? Are they in the Lowrance format or some other brand? Once that info is provided maybe we can give you some help. Quote
yournamehere Posted August 28, 2011 Author Posted August 28, 2011 They are in no data at this time. I will take them off the chart and input IE- 34 23.111 117.23.234 just do not want to have to press a million buttons for 30 waypoints.. Quote
yournamehere Posted August 28, 2011 Author Posted August 28, 2011 The Lowrance software saves in a .usr file for the handhelds? I could work? Quote
yournamehere Posted August 28, 2011 Author Posted August 28, 2011 "HDS .usr files" that was all I needed..the GDM 6 software works..Thanks for the help.. Quote
