Facepalmmaster Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 So I was at Dick's looking at the soft plastics trying to decide which one to get, and I had heard senkos were really good, so I looked at the Gary Yamamoto section, and while looking through the colors I saw some senkos that were called pro-senkos, and they had my favorite worm color in it, so i figured if it was called a pro-senko, it must be as good or better. I tried it out at my small pond near me and I've caught some bass on it. There are two problems though: I have never tried a regular senko and that pond is pretty bad for bass fishing, there are only dinks (or thats all ive ever caught there). So I was wondering if the original senkos are better or what? 1 Quote

The Pro-Senko is molded with a thicker head and a more tapered tail, as if to be used for shakey headin' or the Neko rig, or what-have-you. The regular senko is just tapered on both ends, almost symmetrically. Not a real big difference. Quote
Super User Sam Posted August 27, 2011 Super User Posted August 27, 2011 Add a weedless hook to your wacky rig and throw it everywhere. Quote

Well yeah, but I was asking the people who had possibly tried both, asking if one is better at catching fish than the other. I know what they both look like, Quote
Facepalmmaster Posted August 27, 2011 Author Posted August 27, 2011 Use 4" Senkos (or knockoffs) wacky rigged with a 1/0 hook (weedless prefered) for pond bass. You should do well with that. ...Bill Not what i was asking, but thanks anyway Quote

VolFan Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 Then no, they're not "better", they're just a little different. Quote

Not all of them will be the answer your seeking, but they are all done in the spirit of helping you. Please realize this in your future posts/questions. 1 Quote
Super User Sam Posted August 27, 2011 Super User Posted August 27, 2011 Face, I have used them booth and see no difference. Quote

I understand, it's just sort of confusing when I get an answer that doesn't have anything to do with my question. I hate typing to people because you can't really express emotion, i wasn't getting mad, just asking for an answer or whatever Quote
Facepalmmaster Posted August 27, 2011 Author Posted August 27, 2011 Face, I have used them booth and see no difference. Ok, i figured that, cuz the original senkos seem very similar to the Yum dingers I have, and my pro-senkos are about as good as them. Thanks Quote
joshholmes Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 the pro senko is formed like for shakey head fishing, in other words finesse fishing. the senko itself, overall works better. the senko wworks in almost all conditons while the pro-senko is designed for specific fishing Quote

Facepalmmaster Posted August 29, 2011 Author Posted August 29, 2011 This was in your original question and that is wht I reccomended a 4", but whatever. ...Bill I was thinking about getting some different sizes, but the five inches caught small ones, so I figured bigger would be better, since what i was trying to do is see if I could get bigger ones to hit (there must be at least a little bit bigger ones). But I didn't mean to come off as being impolite, just wanted to know about the pro-senkos. Thanks though Quote
Lip Ripper 87 Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 I used pro senkos for my drop shot rigs and shakey heads. I use regular senkos weightless texas rigged and wackey rigged. Both are a denser material that weighes more than a normal worm. WEightless dead sticking in ponds can make the bigger/wiser fish strike. Quote

Okay, so I dont have any shakey head rigs, and im not exactly sure what a drop shot rig is, but I think it requires a boat, which I dont have. If you were to use a pro-senko the same way as a regular senko, would it do as well, better, or worse (if you know, if not thats fine). Quote
Lip Ripper 87 Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 Look up info on drop shot, it can be fished from shoreline and is sometimes actually easier. The pro senko fished the same as the original can have the same results. I would adjust hook size to fit the smaller worm better and use a spinning combo to throw the light worm better. Results can vary no matter what your fishing. Don't be afraid to try different things. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted August 29, 2011 Super User Posted August 29, 2011 You have to be a pro to use Pro Senkos. In a general sense, picking the right soft plastic for the job is something you really have to figure out yourself. People could give you ten thousand answers here, and 1/2 would be right, according to the results your next trip out. Quote
