Juicy Joyce Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 I love shopping around the 3-day weekends! It is so much fun to catch all of these holiday sales, especially since fishing is only a hobby for me. Gee, what would I do if I couldn’t fish?? A lot of people think fishing is boring, but I feel like it is my vice. It is my way of relieving stress, and escaping from the world. Sitting in my tiny rowboat, with my pole in one hand, and the other folded behind my head…Then that sudden tug from a beautiful Largemouth Bass, as if a gift. Leaving me with the feeling that there are somethings I CAN DO RIGHT. What could be better than a day on the water!!!! I would be distraught if I wasn’t able to fish. What would you do … if you couldn’t fish? Quote
Super User BASSclary Posted August 27, 2011 Super User Posted August 27, 2011 I'd just end up playing a lot more lacrosse, would be a lot paler, and get more into paintball/airsoft. I'd still go to the lake, river, etc. Have of the allure of fishing to me is just bring in the great outdoors. Quote
Super User Long Mike Posted August 27, 2011 Super User Posted August 27, 2011 I've always wanted to be a dumpster diver. Quote

endless Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 Go back to bowling if can afford it. Something I truly miss. Might have to dust off my gear and hit the lanes tomorrow or Sunday. I also miss going to driving ranges and batting cages. Golf I always wanted to try?? RC's sound fun. LOL at Slonezp! Quote
Super User Fishing Rhino Posted August 27, 2011 Super User Posted August 27, 2011 The answer cannot be obtained from the scant info given. Why can I no longer fish. Health reasons, finances, fishing banned by the government? Off the top of my head, I'd say play more golf. But, if my health won't let me fish, it's unlikely I could play golf. If it's finances, ditto. The reason I could no longer fish would determine what I'd do to fill the void. Long Mike's dumpster diving has me intrigued, though I think picking deposit bottles/cans from the side of the road has some promise. Maybe I'd sit in a rocking chair and contemplate my navel. Quote
LWD Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 shucks if i couldn't fish, seriously probably just make more music like I have been doing. Fishing is a part of us. Quote

Super User Lund Explorer Posted August 27, 2011 Super User Posted August 27, 2011 I can think of a number people that don't get a chance to fish, but we'll get through it. Dwight's choice of guide got me to thinking about my own fishing lately. 13 Days for the entire year, and seven of those days were in Kentucky at this year's road trip. There were three days in May, and then again in July. Not that I would have chosen this limited amount of time on the water, but I HAVE been doing just what he suggested. I've been guiding an elderly parent through life's trials which doesn't allow for the time to go. I'm not complaining though, because I know that several other members here are helping to guide their fellow soldiers through deployments and still others who will be taking their place within the near future. Those people make my problems look small in comparison. Regardless of what has taken some of us away from the sport, we'll be back on the water at some point. I just consider myself lucky to be able to come on here during this time to enjoy fishing with the help of all your stories and posts. Quote
