i finally succumbed and bought some owner worm hooks from wally world, and i feel like i got skunked. two of the hooks tips bent over after one day on the water and two rusted up. i think buying them from walmart may have something to do with it but i dont know. any oppinons?i know that many people swear by them, but this pack sucked

never tried them but ive been using vmc and eagle claw lazer sharp hooks. no tips being bent or anything. i know ppl will bash about the eagle claws but they catch me fish, dont rust, or bend tips.

I haven't used Owner worm hooks, but I've had good luck with their treble hooks.

I don't think I've ever rolled a hook point on an Owner. Rusty hooks? I'd look at that as a storage issue.

I would think it shouldn't matter where they came from but I could be wrong. I only used the Wacky worm hook and have bent them out of snags on 10# test(Suffix flouro). No rust or any problems hauling in fish though so I still use them.

Walmart has owner hooks? I'm shocked.

I don't have any problems with my owner hooks. It's about all I use too.All hooks will rust if stored improperly.

You sure they were Owner hooks?

Yep, yep.

Never rolled any owner tips, and I have never had any rust on them either. Not sure what happened with those hooks, Owners have always been top notch for me.

Owners will corrode from contacting salt from soft plastic baits, just like any other hook.

To me, it seem more difficult to damage the tips than with needle-point hooks. I've yanked Owners from rocky snags and they were still thumbnail sticky sharp.

Yup walmart has owner hooks, it's the only place I could get those Owner #5145 Ultrahead Unpainted Round Jig Heads for cheap.

Oh I rarely have owner hooks rust. Pretty reliable hooks.

That sucks, I've never used owner too much, I stick with Gamakatsu and Mustad.

i am sure it was owner. it said owner cutting point on the package. i found out that my younger cousin had left my tackle box out in the rain when i wasn't home, whcih caused the rust. did i mention i sharpened them? i always sharpen my gammies so i didn't thing it would be a problem with owners. guess in a way it was my fault. now i gotta by a new pack so i can judge them fairly.

DON"T Sharpen owner cutting points, that was your problem, they are not a regular point, it is a 3 sided cutting point, there is no need to sharpen, they slice instead of penetrate which means it takes way less pressure to stick a fish. And as far as the rust, any hook is going to rust if its left in a tackle box in the rain.
