irnwrkr Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 I have a tourney at Shellbyville this weekend. Have only fished it a few times. Can't seem to find any quality fish, so any help would be great. Thanks Mike Quote
jokerjp Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 Caught this one and a few smaller ones in one of the coves down by the dam last weekend. Caught on a 6' rib worm in about 10' of water off trees. https://picasaweb.google.com/109399777599788507446/Fishing?authkey=Gv1sRgCO2JnK77k6v9Pw#5642573190209808338 Also suggest working the rip rap in the upper portions of the lake (near the Eagle creek access and bridges) Good Luck Quote
irnwrkr Posted August 24, 2011 Author Posted August 24, 2011 Nice fish! Thanks for the help. I just fish a small club, but am 4 th in points. Thanx, Mike Quote
Triton21 Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 Check out all the rip-rap. CWB and I caught a lot of fish last year on small CBs. Most at Railroad bridge. Also caught some in the coves near dam. Kelley Quote
irnwrkr Posted August 24, 2011 Author Posted August 24, 2011 Thanks Kelly. I'll give it a shot. Mike Quote
jokerjp Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 I'm hoping others chime in as well....I'm always looking for new and better ways to fish this lake. I see plenty of guys headed back into Coon and Opossum coves, but I've never been able to catch em back there....probably doing it wrong. Quote
irnwrkr Posted August 24, 2011 Author Posted August 24, 2011 I tried last Sunday in Coon and opposum. Didn't get anything but short fish. Did better in main lake coves. Tried going deep too. Couldn't find anything. Would hate to get blanked this weekend. That's why I'm looking for the help. Be nice if I could find some vegetation or something. Everything is so bare. Quote
stratosjoe Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 follow coon in on south side until you are even with the bank on north side fish that east west bank it has standing timber out almost 30' I love a 3 to a 4 1/2 black neon tube with as little weight as possible on 10 fluorcarbon hit the bank and work out to 15+'until they tell you the depth they are eating I have caught numerous over 4# as my houseboat was anchored in the middle of this finger and I worked just coon for 3 days in my Stratos Quote
jokerjp Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 Let us know how you do and where you caught em! Quote
