Super User Bassn Blvd Posted July 7, 2009 Super User Posted July 7, 2009 I use a fine point Sharpe to write the depth on the bill or belly. But sometimes the ink comes off and I can't remember how deep they dive. How do yall remember the depths of your cranks? Quote
Stasher1 Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 As soon as I take them out of the package I engrave the diving depth and sometimes the brand/model on the underside of the lip with one of these... Quote
hercdoc Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 That's exactly what I do...since I have "old timers" disease. Quote
OnthePotomac Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 I bought a set of German fine markers and they are better than Sharpie. I print on the belly near the lip and it will not come off. I think I found them at Target in pens and pencils. Look for a small, clear, plastic case with 4 pens, red, blue, black and green. Quote
seyone Posted July 7, 2009 Posted July 7, 2009 I also engrave mine. used to sharpie them. Sometimes the ink would wear off, so I would just find another crank in the box that was the same. If I didn't have another crank of that brand I would find myself looking them up online. Worst case you can just look at the lip size, it won't give exact depth but at least you can estimate. Quote
S I G M A Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 I don't sharpie mine anymore... you can get a pretty good general idea at looking at the size of the bill Quote
DOVERANGLER Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 i can look at the bill and get a pretty good idea how deep it will go longer the bill the deeper she'll swim Quote
Tucson Posted July 11, 2009 Posted July 11, 2009 The "look at the bill" trick works pretty good but in the interest of being excessively anal I use a permanent marker. Quote
Koop Posted July 11, 2009 Posted July 11, 2009 I cut up index cards and list the depth, brand, model # and color on it. Put them in the tacklebox with the lure. Quote

NealinMO Posted July 11, 2009 Posted July 11, 2009 I write the depth on the lid or the bottom of the compartment on my okachobee flats storage box with a sharpie marker.. Working good so far!! Quote
Stingray23 Posted July 11, 2009 Posted July 11, 2009 I also use a sharpie on the underside of the bill. Quote
endless Posted July 11, 2009 Posted July 11, 2009 i know when i was buying the xraps i would take out the product info from its package and take it to my tackle box but of course i eventually took em out now i try the bill size but most of my are shallow runners from 0-1 to 3-6. so i can tell them apart. i dont think i have any 7-11 yet Quote
