Shad_Master Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 I typically use 3/0 and 4/0 hooks for most of my soft plastic fishing (which by the way is my main technique) but I have a hard time getting the smallies to lay flat on the hook - wondered if I downsized if there would be any problems. Thanks. Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted August 21, 2011 Super User Posted August 21, 2011 2/0 EWG Gamakatsu superline for me most of the time. If I am using them with spinning gear or lighter casting gear, I'll use a 2/0 light wire Gammy EWG. Quote
Shad_Master Posted August 21, 2011 Author Posted August 21, 2011 Okay, thanks guys - I guess my biggest concern was that with the small hook there would be more of a tendency for the bass to swallow the hook - I guess I'll have to try it and see. Quote
Super User Crestliner2008 Posted August 21, 2011 Super User Posted August 21, 2011 A twist lock shakey head jig does great with these. If you prefer going weightless, then I'd go with a 1/0 EWG Gama. Just crimp down the barb. Actually I prefer the larger beavers for smallies. Quote
