I am starting to look around at prices on boats with the goal of purchaseing one by next spring... i ran across a 2004 nitro nx882 for a little under 10k. It has a 2002 125 mercury on it that i understand was the factory motor on the boat (is it common to have an older motor on a boat from the factory?). this seems like a good deal compared to some i have seen and the boat appears to be in good condition for its age. i have also seen some trackers that are decent deals in that same year model range. still not sure if i want glass or tin. any thoughts or advise?

I have never seen a new boat from a dealer that didn't have the same year motor as the year of the boat.

My boat is an 07 and it came from the dealer with an 06 engine.

9k+ for a 7 year old boat? Not on my dime....But prices on used boats is a regional thing.

My suggestion: go over to iboats.com. They have a terrific boat-specific disscusion forum. Read and research the posts there for questions to ask and what to look for in a used boat. Trust me, it will be well worth your time. ;)

i kind of agree that it seems like alot for a 7 year old boat. but i have yet to see another 18' glass boat in that year range for less than that. I would rather stay in the 7k range which may push me into something like the tracker aluminum boats...

It's hard to tell with the information you gave us if its worth that much. It could have 10k in electronics?

Don't be afraid to low ball people, if someone is asking 12.5k ask them if they would sell it for 9k before you even look at it, that way your not wasting a trip hoping they will lower their price when you get there.

I'm thinking that boat is rated for a 150 also. I don't think I'd be happy with it having a 125.

actually its rated for a 175 and i have one with a xr6 150 and i no i would not be happy with a 125
