I was fishing smallies in a local river several years ago and caught the ugliest smallie I've ever seen. It was like 18", solid dark(mud) brown, red eyes and its fins and tail were beat up terribly. I don't know if it mattered, but the river was extremely low at the time.

This one takes the cake! Just a little smooshed. She went 20in 5lb 14oz. When she jumped i thought over 6 for sure.

That is one of the most eye pleasing sights I have ever seen. A true football.

There are no ugly smallies out there. I think they are all gorgeous! The other day I had a buddy of mine tell me that he doesn't know why I waste my time with smallies when largemouth are so fun to catch. I asked if he ever caught one and he said no. I told him to go catch a few and he will see why I like catching them.

If you are calling that awesome fish ugly, I guess I'd like to see a pretty one! Never met a smallie I didn't like. And as far as Im concerned the dark dark brown smallies that almost look black are even more unique and cool in my book!

Might not be prettiest coloring and might be funny looking as far as belly to length but I've never seen a 5 pound smallmouth that I thought was ugly!

I love big smallies! I don't understand how someone can think they're ugly. This is the biggest gut I've ever seen on any of the smallmouth I've ever caught. She had the tail of probably a 7-9 inch crappie sticking out of her throat, just couldn't pass up that little Lucky Craft crankbait!
