I use to use sewing thread and wrap it, some use to take panty hose and tie the liver inside it but both those methods might be illegal now and probably was then. I don't know.

I switched from chicken liver to beef liver years ago. Beef liver can be cut into cubes and will stay on your hook with no problem. I haven't noticed any difference in my catch rate.

When you are using a #8 treble hook cut the right size pieces of liver with your knife. You can then bait the liver on the one and two points but the third point is tricky. You usually have to wrap the liver around the bottom of the hook to get it to stay on that third point. With a bit of practice you can get your livers staying on there good. But there will be the occasional nibbler catfish that nibble the liver right off each time. You don't want to cut the mushy part of the liver as bait you want the good looking portion.smile.gif.

it seems to be such a hassle. use cut bluegill/sunfish and u'll be set. it stays on FOREVER and i seem to catch more fish and quality fish. including a couple 10 lb channels
